From 1981. I had it but its my only draft book missing from my collection. I can only remember "Runs like a deer".
Searched eBay, nothing. Thanks would love the read it again.
Fan since 1969(was 4years old, thanks dad).
Fastest time by any team ever, to put there draft pick, when New Orleans passed on LT for George Rogers. The commisioner didn't even have to leave the stage to announce the next pick.
Io have off-the-field/character issues, so I wasn't crazy about the pick, because the Giants hadn't done so well with guys who were sort of "different."
I think that taught me to STFU about who the Giants draft. I just hope for the best.
Greatest of all time, those that watch him play will be Giant fans till they die.
Ahh LT I wish I made more money so I can help LT out. I love when I hear "maybe the closest thing to Lawrence Taylor", "Ill tell ha Moose he's the best I've seen since LT" whomever the talking heads are discussing that day they can only compare, no one will ever be.
I always thought it was a travesty that a generation of fans
"Competitive to the point where he could be the most dominant player on the field with one arm strapped to his chest."
That would have summed up LT pretty well...
I remember that game real well, he chased Rogers down on the opposite side of the field with his one arm. Granted would be a horse collar today, but what a play!!!
is that there were like 27 of 30 GMs surveyed (or could it have been 25 of 28 not sure how many teams back then) before the draft who said if they had the first pick they would take LT. Luckily for us teh Skins had the first pick and took George Rogers. Rogers had an excellent NFL career but ... The rest is history.
Of course there was not nearly as much draft info in those days (Street and Smith and a few others). No interweb. But i recall reading some of the draft info and thinking we would be lucky if he falls to us (even though we already had great LBs).
And as soon as camp started, every story was about how he was dominating every practice. Good memories.

Lawrence Taylor ( 6.2 1/4 244) (4.7 - 4.8 ) North Caroline
Super-quick and explosive defender with great instict and awareness. Most explosive hitter in the draft. Has sideline-to-sideline range, unreal strenght and great closing speed. Literally demolishes people.
Capsule - Devastating ! Rates right up there with Jacob and Hugh Greens.
that's all there was on him -- Hugh Green and Ricky Jackson were the top two Outside Linebackers.
Hugh Green was the one that everyone was talking about leading up to the draft.
After the Draft Dave Kline wrote in Star Ledger that the night before the Draft, George Young heard a rumor that New Orleans had second thoughts about drafting George Rogers and had brought Lawrence Taylor to New Orleans.
George Young got concerned and made several calls to North Carolina and found out that Lawrence Taylor was on campus at Chapel Hill. George Young went to sleep and knew he was going to get the player he wanted.
Lawrence Taylor (6-2 1/4 244) ( 4.7-4.8) North Carolina
Can play right defensive end, but is "Taylor-made" to play strongside outside linebacker in a 3-4. Great all-around athlete. Very, very quick with superior explosive strength. Devastating blitzer who led club in sacks and fumbles caused. Needs work against the pass if he's to back the line.
Capsule - First rounder who hits like a demolition ball and runs like a deer.
Oddly doesn't match the comments about how quick and fast he was! Obviously not indicative of his field speed which was like a guy who run 4.5 or better. LOL to ANYONE trying to chase LT down from behind once he had a ball in his hands and headed towards an end zone...
"Runs like a deer"? More like a cheetah chasing an antelope.

A great player in his own right, but not nearly as transformational, or transcendental, as the "real" LT...
But has character issues.
Not the type of player a organization like the Giants is interested in. Take George Rogers instead. Bellcow running back.
That would have summed up LT pretty well...

.... and it was a pre-season game!!!
says everything you need to know about LT. Even in a game that didn't count he was a ferocious competitor.
lol that's priceless
