Q: What would you say to Giants fans that are pushing the panic button about the offensive line?

A: It is the second week of the preseason.

Q: Can you elaborate on that?

A: There isn’t really much more that you can elaborate or do about it. It takes a lot to get the run fits together and we still have two preseason games, two preseason weeks to get some good work in, so we saw some things on film that we are looking forward to going out and working on getting better.

Q: How much of an advantage is the continuity this year?

A: I think it is a big advantage because we are kind of comfortable with each other more than we would be if we had someone new thrown in there, so being comfortable is a huge thing and we communicate well with each other…

Q: How much better can Ereck Flowers be in his second season?

A: I think he can be great. It is all about technique. If we all want to get to the next level, it is about working on our technique and that is what I do every day, that is what each person on my left and right does, is work on our technique and our fundamentals and try to make ourselves better off as a line.

Q: How beneficial is it to have Justin Pugh and John Jerry next to you?

A: It is great. They have played a lot of football and to have those guys on either side makes your job easier because they understand how things are supposed to be done and how they are supposed to look.

Q: What is the personality of this line going to be on September 11th?

A: It needs to be to finish. We want to finish each play and from there finish each game and that consists of being physical, having a mean attitude and really getting after people.

Q: What has been the feeling in that room after a disappointing game Saturday?

A: We were only in the room for a couple hours today, so we watched some film and now we are looking forward to playing the Jets, who will be a good challenge for us. They will give us some good work in the preseason.

Q: What do you say to the fans who are disappointed by Saturday?

A: It was the second week.

Q: What do you make of the second week of preseason?

A: We were getting in some good work. We saw a different kind of defense, much different from the first week and we got some good looks and got some good things on tape that we need to come in here and fix this week.

Q: You talked earlier about your new offensive line coach, Mike Solari. Can you elaborate on what you have learned about him?

A: Yeah, he focuses on the tiny details and I think that carries over to us. We want to pay attention to every small detail that we can and try to make ourselves the best.

Q: Is he a fiery guy?

A: To an extent, I think. I don’t think he is going to lose his cool. He is able to motivate in the appropriate way and in the appropriate time.

Q: What has been Coach McAdoo’s tone since the last game?

A: Learn from it. We need to learn from what we did. Like I said, we saw some different looks that were good to challenge us and show us what we need to work on and now it is time to move on from that.

Q: Are those looks uncommon for a second preseason game?

A: No, I think from that team and that coach you are going to see some interesting things and I think it was good for us to see those things.
I understand the players need to show confidence

And perhaps they are, internally. But the fact of the matter is Dottino was getting tired of taking calls every day in the offseason on "Big Blue Kickoff Live" about the angst among the fans regarding the OL. Well, through 2 weeks of preseason games (and mostly bad practice reports), the OL is exactly what we feared, if not worse. What happens in the likely event that all 5 projected starters play into the 3rd quarter this week and we get obliterated by the Jets talented front? Do we have the OK to panic then?
The concern was the right side, not the whole line

I don't believe anyone was predicting the whole line would be an issue, and frankly, with the investment made in drafting Flowers, Pugh, and Richburg, it would be a massive disappointment, not "as expected.".

We crowed about not drafting offensive line. They did it. Now the highly-picked players have to play better.

Personally, I'm not concerned right now with Richburg, who should be in the mix for All Pro barring a career altering injury and Pugh who should be solid at LG. I think the NYG did well drafting those 2. It's the highest pick among the 3 who I think will be battling technique issues his entire time here. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't ever see Flowers living up to what his expectations are/were when he was, in my opinion, over drafted at 9 last year.
