WR Sterling Shepard

Postgame vs. New Orleans, September 18th, 2016

Q. How important was it for you guys to come out in this home opener and perform the way you did? A lot of people expected a high scoring game and it wasn't a high scoring game.

A. I definitely feel like this gave us a little bit more momentum going forward. Everybody did expect it to be a high scoring game, but both defenses did a great job. Our defense did a great job, so kudos to them.

Q. You were targeted 8 times and had 8 catches for over 100 yards. How are you feeling in terms of you getting the offense and knowing it at this point?

A. I'm getting pretty comfortable. Last week I had a few mistakes that I wanted to clean up this week. I was able to do that. Just focusing in practice, staying in a little bit later for meetings. But I feel like I'm picking it up and getting more comfortable. I see that progressing as the season goes on.

Q. The three of you guys -- [Victor] Cruz, Odell [Beckham Jr.] and yourself -- combined for almost 290 yards receiving. When you guys look at that - what do you think the feeling could be?

A. We left some plays out there, I believe. So we see that and see how far this offense can go. Us three guys are working all the time, even after practice. So to see that pay off has been great. Hopefully we keep that going throughout the season.

Q. What's the biggest thing you've learned from both Odell and Victor this season?

A. Their fight and their work ethic. Those guys work hard, especially at practice. It seems like they don't get tired. I'm the guy looking at those two trying to keep up with them. But that's definitely what I see out of those two - the work ethic and how they fight.

Q. Has game slowed down and you have to focus on what you have to do?

A. Yeah, definitely. I got hit pretty hard on the first catch I had today. I feel like after that everything slowed down. That's usually how it goes for me. I just have to catch one ball and I calm down and all the jitters are pretty much gone. It definitely slowed down after that and I see it slowing down even more.

Q. Coach said he thought you could've scored the touchdown on that pass up there. What was your take on that one there?

A. Yeah, I definitely should've. After I hit the first guy with the cut, I probably should've just stuck him with the vertical. But I feel like that's one I can make and feel like it would've been a walk in if I made that cut. I wish I could have it back but I lost my footing a little bit.

Q. What do you think of Victor's catch there at the end?

A. That's big time. He's the guy that always made big time plays and he did that today.
