Head Coach Ben McAdoo
October 21, 2016
Hoping Eli (Manning) runs as fast tomorrow as he did a few years ago.
Q: Is Robbie Gould with you guys yet?
A: He’s on his way.
Q: What was the roster move?
A: We’ll take a look at it. We have a couple of different options.
Q: What did you say to your team about Josh (Brown)?
A: I went around to each position room. We were in a time crunch. I just went around each position room and let them know our decision and what our plans were with Josh. Just let them know what we said in our release, what (Team President) John (Mara) said on the radio. We’re going to work to get the best information we can. The most accurate information we can to make the best information we can for the team.
Q: What was your conversation with Josh like?
A: It was a tough conversation. A tough conversation. We’ll leave it personal.
Q: You said on the radio you haven’t really had the chance to digest it. Have you had that chance yet?
A; Again, it has been a quick turnaround. It’s not easy, obviously, but we thought it was best for the organization to go the direction we went. Just to make sure that we have all the best information available.
Q: What’s your reaction to what you have heard?
A: We’re trying to get as much information as we can so we can make the best decision.
Q: Did Josh mislead you prior to these findings?
A: My conversations one-on-one with Josh, I want to leave those personal. He’s working towards improving himself.
Q: You made a statement in August about the situation. Do you stand by that statement now?
A: We’re not going to turn our back on Josh. He’s a teammate and a guy we’re hoping makes strides.
Q: Are you aware of what has happened?
A: I haven’t had time to filter through a lot of this information. A lot of it came out recently. We’re relying on the front office to go through it. We’re working to get all the information we can get so we can make the best available decision.
Q: John said that Josh admitted to abusing his wife. Did you know about that when you spoke to us in August?
A: I’m not going to say anything. I want to make sure I get all the information available and I have all the facts when I speak.
Q: Inaudible
A: I’m waiting right now to make the best possible decision and help the organization make the best possible decision.
Q: Is this your call in the end?
A: It’s an organizational decision.
Q: What’s your confidence level bringing Robbie in here?
A: I’ve seen him make a lot of kicks against me in the past. He’s been successful. We’re hoping that continues.
Q: Did you give him a workout?
A: No. He’s on his way here. We haven’t had the chance to work him out.
Q: Do you need him to go and work with the long snapper?
A: We’ll have a practice tomorrow. A launch day tomorrow.
Q: Can you just clarify that there has been mixed messages between your policy and the zero tolerance policy?
A: When did I say zero tolerance? We’re looking to get as much information we can so we have all the facts and can make an informed decision.
Q: You don’t have like a blanket policy?
A: I do not support domestic violence if that’s what your asking. I do not condone it.
Q: What will you do to keep your team focused on the game?
A: Each and every week it seems like there’s something that we’re talking about other than the game. That’s a part of the game now. Each team goes through it. We talk about messaging and what we can do. Focus on controlling our thoughts and controlling what we can control. Not letting any outside noise come in.
Q: How do you know if Josh is taking strides or not taking strides?
A: That’s a great question. Josh is a man of faith. He’s a man that has taken steps to try and support himself. You try and support him so he can get better.
Q: How can you better yourself?
A: There are programs in place that the league has in place that the players can take advantage of.
Q: There was another incident early this year. How much does that concern you?
A: Everything is concerning. We’re working to piece together all the pieces that we can to make a well informed decision.
Q: Talk about the disadvantages about coming over here and playing in this time zone?
A: We made a decision that being on the east coat we can get over here quickly. We thought we could get a lot of rest heading into the game. Get our preparation done and our heavy lifting done before we got on a plane. Now, we have to catch up on our hydration. Get back in the sleep-wake cycle so we’re ready to go on Sunday.
Q: You said gathering information before?
A: The front office is doing the best they can right now to gather the information and feed it to me.
Q: Do they get the information from the Pro Bowl and the security?
A: They get as much information as quickly and as accurately as they can.
Q: Did you know that happened?
A: We’re working to acquire the information to make the best decision possible.
Q: So yes, no?
A: I’m not going to answer that.
Q: How much of a distraction can this be?
A: We’re not worried about distractions or outside noise. We need to focus on each other and winning a football game.
I can't believe this is even happening, or that the organization is going to these lengths for someone so disposable on top of it. If this was Eli or something it wouldn't be any less sickening or inexcusable, but you would at least understand that the team would be in a tougher spot because of the bottom line impact on the results and business. This is so easy. Get rid of the fucker now
His opening statement should have been
"We are aware of the situation going on with Josh Brown. As an organization we dont condone domestic violence. Not every situation is black and white and perhaps we didnt do as much fact gathering at the time we resigned Josh. At this time we've decided to keep Josh away from the team while we take some time to gather more information to decide if Josh is going to be a member of the New York Giants moving forward. I can't answer any other questions about Josh as these are the details I have at this moment."
1. You have to think about the locker room. I am not advocating being like dallas and supporting criminals without exception, but these guys need to see that the organization is going to treat them fairly and get the facts before doing something, . You can't throw people away at the first sign of adversity. It's bad for morale. Let the NFL do the dirty work. It was their fuck up in the first place. The NFL took the lead on the first "investigation" and doled out the (insufficient) punishment. Let The leaugue unfuck the situation.
2. I think a straight cut and Brown gets his whole salary for the year. If the NFL suspends him he doesn't get paid.

That wouldn't stop NY reporters from asking about Brown every other question.
In the meantime I am here with Robbie Gould as my kicker to beat the Rams.
It really is a WTF press conference.
Practically the first declaration you made as HC was that you wouldn't tolerate DA, Ben. You look like a damn fool right now and are just digging the hole deeper with every "support Josh" phrase uttered.
