when the starter was out. They played the kid they drafted to replace him at LT for that game but Whitworth was back starting at LT the next week. Why does this need to be mentioned? He made the Pro Bowl.
I've read where D'Ware wants to go back to Dallas but if JPP walks and Dallas makes a play for him could we have any interest in DW? We're giving up 10 years in age (28 vs 38). If healthy and serviceable DW can help bridge the gap until we develop another DE or we draft one.. Thoughts
RE: Neither, better young, healthier, talent in the draft.
This doesn't seem like a particularly strong draft for OTs. Also not a big fan of forcing a rookie into a starting slot, especially at a position that protects the QB.
The guy gave up 14 pressures & 0 sacks with only 5 penalties for 40 yards in 2016. Can't really get much better then that.
It's laughable how so many are quick to poo-poo a man's performance in a single game, but are quick to ignore/dismiss his overall performance. People need to look at our own line where our tackles combined for over 100 pressures. The lion share came from EF. It seems we have grown accustomed to mediocrity when it comes to OL play. The fact is if we are able to sign AW, he immediately becomes our best OL and likely our best LT in over 20 years. Our last pro-bowl LT was Jumbo.
...when Clint Bolling was out. Ogbuehi was largely a mess at RT so I don't think their OT situation is anywhere near settled nor is the starting lineup in week 17 any indication of anything.
He played there early in his career and played there a few years ago at the end of the year when Bolling went on IR. Anthony Collins played LT and ended up getting big $ from Tampa after years of being a good swing tackle.....and proceeded to play himself out of football after 10 games.
Don't want to touch Peters (lel). I've been counting him out for years and he keeps proving me wrong but his wheels are set to fall off at any time.

He's a good LT and even at a declined state would be a significant upgrade to Flowers. Just saying his own team may or may not already have been trying to replace him. He was pissed enough about playing LG to call a meeting with ownership about it, making it clear he wanted to stay at LT if he returned. He felt the need to say that.
I thought he was OK vs. the Giants which is the only game I focused on him, and I think we all agree he can help this team.
Peters just doesn't seem dependable physically at this point.

If we're talking about the same thing. He didn't say he wouldn't play guard. He said he wouldn't take guard money. He wants starter OLT money, because he's a top 5 player at the position and that happens to have a lot of value around the league. He spoke to them about the money, not the position. The gist was: you can play me there, but I'm not taking a pay cut because you want a younger OLT.
Potential OT Cuts.
Russel Okung be an option again. Played well just not 11.5mil well.

Umm because he did it to give their 1st round pick a chance to play LT. Not because of performance.

mention that CIN moved Whitworth to LG late in the year? #redflag

So they won't want to play their 1st round pick there, now?
Good? Yes. But nothing special.

All the punishment his body has taken....not good.
