DT market: Ben Logan's contract 1 year, 8m, 7.68m guaranteed

Chiefs gave Bennie Logan a 1-year, $8 million deal with $7.68M guaranteed. Nice payday on a prove-it deal for ex-Eagles DT.

This wouldn't seem to bode well for the Giants' odds of bringing Hankins back on a one-year deal

1 year 8 million seems cheap as far as market goes. No?
That is bad news

For our ability to sign Hankins. Was hoping for $3-4 million.

It's expensive for a "prove it" deal. Usually 1 year deals are for $3-4M while the player tries to show his play wasn't a fluke and that he's worth a larger deal long term.
Still think Hankins is waiting on Poe to sign
dpinzow : 3/14/2017 1:22 pm : link
Poe is the top DT on the market so he is trying to price himself into that range

Actually it helps because it is easy to clear (JT Thomas, Dwayne Harris) and restructure a couple of contracts (Jenkins, Vernon) to get the $8 million for Hankins
Basically, if Reese were able to make enough cap space
dpinzow : 3/14/2017 1:39 pm : link
to give Hankins a year at $8MM, he basically puts off the JPP/Hankins decision one more year and we start with the status quo ante from last year's FA after acquiring Snacks and OV (JPP and Hank impending free agents after 2017 in such a scenario)
I suspect NYG number is closer to $6M, at best

no bueno.
A multi year contract averaging $8m
BillT : 3/14/2017 2:32 pm : link
Could be as little as $4/5m year one.
