I have no inside information. I don't even know if he can pass a physical...
But what I do believe is a healthy Ryan Clady would take our OL from a liability to a strength.
Clady-Pugh-Richburg-Fluker-Flowers
with Jerry & Hart as back-ups. Is a strong OL.
Being a long-term Jet, I assume Clady has his life in the NY area, so staying around here would be desirable, much like Marshall. So we can get him on the cheaper end with a prove it deal. I know he has been injured but still only 30, so he should still have some thread on those tires. Soulder surgury& #8203; needs a ton of rehab but being out as long as he has offers a pretty fresh body. So I hoping he is Reese's Ace in the hole. Grabbing him from the Jets also feels good, especially if successful.
I think we strengthen both tackle position. Hell, both sides of the OL gets better. Clady is a proven LT and Flowers looks like the perfect RT. The left side will offer solid protection while the right side will have the strongest pair in football.
People say Clady is done but I did not get impression that he believes that....So I expect he is rehabbing to play again and the Giant can complete a FA period fixing their only major issue.
I am all in on getting weapons for this offense....TE, RB, WR....
We were so one dimensional last season, it was easy for defenses to play us.....we added a blocking TE, we need a blocking FB....
You make defenses have to worry about 5 positions, rather than just OBj, and a marginal OL will work....just give Eli these offensive options....
You're not test driving a used car at a lot. Bringing this guy in to camp would require giving him a bunch of guaranteed money.
Just like last year, there were literally two OL who were worth anything, they got top dollar and were off the board quickly. Everyone else who was left was just a pretender fetching top dollar.
We need a blocking TE AND blocking FB, for short yardage situations...

Unless the Giants sign one or draft one, Ellison is the only FB on the roster. Sure, he'll be used as a TE at times, but his primary role will be as a FB, similar to Bear Pascoe's role with the Giants. Also, we do have a few other TEs on hand who will be expected to block, too, and we could conceivably draft another one.
