As a fan what do you feel as a position of need is

3r76jp : 4/11/2017 10:38 pm
For me and my opportunistic senses I would definitely go TE, DT, OT, RB, CB, FS, LB. I've kept it to 7 because of the draft and in free agencies every team and player/agent will be trying to fill every open roster spot.

This doesn't make much sense because "most teams" will draft BPA rather then reach for a need pick, other than QB of course.

So going off my "need" list and with a little hope from the football gods here I go.

1st. David Njuko
2rd. Caleb Brantley
3rd. Antonio Garcia
4th. Wayne Gallman
5th. Damonte Kazee
6th. Delano Hill
& 7th. Elijah Lee

Don't be fooled by my (OUTSTANDING) picks. I'm in no way a draft guru. I've looked at a lot of mock drafts/prospects and as usual everyone of them seem to be scattershot right around the 10th pick. So I may have over stretched on sum or reached on others.

Anyways have fun calling my BS.
I would add an edge rusher/ DE

Maybe forgo the FS.....If this is a position of need

It's just that Okwara, Wynn and 00 happen to be on the team and I have more confidence in one of them being able to become a situational pass rusher/run stopper, then I do in Berhe, Adams and Thompson&Thompson being starters.
Any list of needs has to start and end with

Offensive Tackle...
I don't believe that their is...

an actual Tackle prospect that could push Flowers to the RT position. We could draft Cam or another tackle in the 1st rd. to start at either tackle position, it's just that we already have Hart, Fluker, Jerry and possibly even Flowers vying for both RG and RT positions. So if none of the top 3 LT prospects seem to be highly regarded it seems to be a reach. Keep in mind most All Pro/Pro bowl Tackles have been drafted in the 1st rd. While great RT are found in the 2nd or later rds.
Any of the top 4 Tackle prospects could start for us immediately at RT

Hart is a backup, and Fluker has proven already he is not a starter in this league.
Your question was what is the position of need, not

what position was likely to be upgraded from this draft.

Make up your mind...

Jimmy you got me you're right I did say that.

Jimmy you got me, you're right I did say that. A LT "IS" our greatest need but as I mentioned before that I'm an opportunistic fan who believes that Flowers can still become a great LT maybe even better then David Diehl,Luke Petitgout or even Roman Oben! (I'll leave Jumbo Elliot off the sarcasm list). My pessimistic point of view though, does sense we fd up on Flowers and I have no idea what it would take to fix that. I was all into signing up Whitworth at whatever cost and I'd still like a trade for a Joe Thomas/Staley, which I find to be doubtful. So I believe we're stuck with Flowers at LT.
Nice job 3r76jp

I could live with that mock.

I'm going to say our greatest position of need currently is DT. There's a huge hole left there by Hankins. Not so much that Hank was this irreplaceable player but because we have nothing of substance under him. Our DL was a big reason for our success last season, and in order to keep the edge over the Cowboys we have to win with our Dline.

A seam buster at TE would be nice and I've felt for years now that Eli needed a better safety blanket at the position but I wouldn't rank it currently above DT. I also believe we'll get a lot more out of Ellison than the Vikings did.

I would love to find another OT to add to the mix but the pickings are slim this year. You can also say I'm one of the few fans who realizes there will be growing pains with Flowers at LT. So I don't feel it's as urgent or necessary as others but I do feel more needs to be added to the tackle position for sure.

I actually have slot CB really high on the list of positions of need. Even though DRC did an awesome job there he still gets hurt quite often and I'd prefer next time it's not a Trevin Wade type player filling in for him.
going by holes in the lineup
Dankbeerman : 4/12/2017 7:34 am : link
need someone who can play LT besides Flowers. even if they want him to start we have no one else to plug in if he goes down. Need to replace Beatty hopefully with someone that has starting potential at least.

We need a MLB to replace Sheppard. If Goodson starts we just need a back up.

We need DT, and if we cant sign hank he needs to be capable of competing to start.

We need a CB for depth and longterm option in the slot.

We need competition a S as behre and m.thompson cant be counted on to stay healthy. Think D.Thompson can start but an additional FS talent with some slot cover skills would be ideal

We need a pass rusher, more of a stand up LB type that will play in sub packages. If you can get a full blown LB who can start and has pass rush skills off the edge its a home run.

could use another RB to compliment perkins and vereen. prefer a bigger body.

could use a TE, interior OL prospect, a developmental QB and additional CB depth as well but thats more luxury then need.

Really like your draft

Garcia is a solid OL with LT feet, good value there. Would like K Pass in round 2 but I like Brantley. Love Njoku!!!
