Have the Giants met with any FA DTs besides Hankins?

aquidneck : 4/13/2017 8:40 am
Apologies for yet another thread, but hoping this specific question might deserve its own discussion.

Have the Giants checked out any alternatives if Hank leaves? Can't imagine they think they already have enough on the roster, so is plan B to allocate draft resources to DT?

Do they not like anybody else on the open market? Do they not see themselves needing leverage?

If they haven't met with any FA DT at all they're confident that Hankins will both cave and that plan B is their best recourse in the event that he doesn't
Likely conversations at the agent level

I haven't heard of any serious enough to justify bringing in a player for physical, etc.

My money is on Jason Odrick at about $4 million per yr.
I believe they've already gone on record saying

Bromley and Thomas are capable replacements, if need be.

Likely a negotiating tactic in part. I'm guessing they are fine not paying top dollar for the 4th starting DLineman but at the same time would love for Bromley and Thomas to be depth instead of potential starters.

I think its clear we either get Hankins back or will quickly sign the best veteran DT on the market if Hankins signs elsewhere.
Any UFA DT other than Hankins who's available now...
Klaatu : 4/13/2017 8:57 am : link
Will most likely still be available after the draft, and I figure that if Hankins isn't re-signed before the draft begins, then DT becomes a priority for the team that weekend. The Giants usually carry only four DTs anyway, and my guess is that they believe they'll be okay with Snacks, Bromley, Thomas, and a draftee if need be.
Jared Odrick?

Is Odrick really an upgrade over Bromley/Thomas? Dude seemed pretty washed up last year the few games he wasn't out with injuries.

is possible, but nobody else is apparently interested in signing him. My guess is they just draft a DT.
Ricky Jean Francois

would be a cheap fat guy to take up space in the middle of the DL
Why does Odrick's name always come up and not Marks?
robbieballs2003 : 4/13/2017 10:40 am : link
I would rather have Marks assuming the money was even.
Here are a couple of plays

He signed with the Packers a few weeks ago.
Okay Robbie but Marks didn't get penetration on the pass rushes

I just thought Odrick was more versatile. You may be right that he is done but he may not have fit Jax scheme.

Odrick was more of a Chris Conty type player.

Nice video. Marks could be a fit here.
Likely Bromley takes Hanks spot

Ranaan reporting the Giants have reached out to Odrick's agent
