The Giants have expressed interest in Odrick as a free-agent option, a source told ESPN. Odrick has also gotten interest at some point through the free-agent process from more than a few teams including the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles. |
of the man
Of course the contract and motivation will be the rub. What type of payday are Odrick and his agent looking for? Is he focused on the game?
As I posted yesterday before 2016 Odrick had started every game for over five consecutive seasons and was consistently productive.

If he signs, a big yay! If he doesn't? ☹️
Why did the Giants decide to be cheap now?

I'll fix this for you...
If Odrick signs
"Way to overpay for another average player. This team never learns"

"Great, now they decide to go cheap. This team never learns"

Some of the other available free-agent defensive tackles include Odricks former Jaguars teammate SenDerick Marks, Cam Thomas, Jason Jones and Glenn Dorsey.

Would rather roll with just Bromley and Thomas if it aint Odrick or Marks.
QB
RB
TE +
WR +
OL
DL (-)
LB
DB
SP (-)
Strongest gain is definitely at WR. The TE unit goes from blows to probably mediocre. DL gets a kick in the ass. They lose the PK. I'd say to date, the Giants are running in place since the end of the season. Still have time , however .

impressive trick to take differing opinions from a group of people, combine them, and make it seem like the whole group had the same opinion and changed it later. i like it.

I get a kick out of you guys who think that the BBI posters who want this player will be the same posters who say, "no big loss, he sucks", if he doesn't sign. They will be different posters.

I think my reply to GoTerps post went way over your head. Mine was mimicking what GoTerps would say, in each instance. Not BBI. You may want to direct your outrage his way. But carry on...
Reese prefers larger interior defensive linemen.
If you look at the DTs that Reese has drafted or signed as free agents they tend to be very large players.
Stop the run first.
But we also need a DT that can blast through or by the guys that Snacks occupies to get some pressure up the middle. Like DEs, can't have enough DTs. I have more faith in RThomas than in Bromley, but sign a vet, draft one in rd 2, and let T and B fight for a spot.

I wouldn't say Giants have gone after massive players. Chris Canty was very tall and lanky, but still under 300. Outside of Hankins and Linval, we also looked at guys like Marvin Austin, and Jay Alford.
If I can to guess, I would expect the kind of contract numbers the Giants are considering offering Jared Odrick would be along similar lines to what we signed Cullen Jenkins for in 2013 (ie: $8m over 3 years including a $2m signing bonus).
There is, however, one player on the market I believe would be a terrific fit for the Giants. That is Jared Odrick, let go this offseason by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Odrick is a 30-year-old who has 23 career sacks. At 65 and 301 pounds, Odrick has played defensive tackle, defensive end and outside linebacker during his seven-year career. He might be a nice rotational piece, especially as an interior rusher on passing downs.
