The Giants have expressed interest in Odrick as a free-agent option, a source told ESPN. Odrick has also gotten interest at some point through the free-agent process from more than a few teams including the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles.

He or Marks would be a good addition

Sir Odrick approacheth!
Cause for concern?

I would rather have Marks
robbieballs2003 : 4/14/2017 10:39 am : link
That obviously depends on what he is looking for but I would rather have what seems to be a quality person (I could be wrong) who has been productive when healthy over a guy that hasn't produced lately. He was also released so would not count against the comp picks. Also, from some plays I saw he was being double teamed because of the lack of talent on that DL when he was healthy. He will not have that issue with our supporting cast.
Odrick is the more talented player imo
Torrag : 4/14/2017 10:47 am : link
...and there hasn't been any reported interest in Marks to date by Big Blue. Do the math.
of the man
Of course the contract and motivation will be the rub. What type of payday are Odrick and his agent looking for? Is he focused on the game?

As I posted yesterday before 2016 Odrick had started every game for over five consecutive seasons and was consistently productive.
This would be a good pickup
dpinzow : 4/14/2017 10:59 am : link
Not sure how good a run-stopper he is but he can rush the passer which will complement Snacks

I like the fact that he played with Vernon

Don't they proof read? "[Hankins]agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $30 million with the Colts." That is what we offered. He signed a three year deal with the Colts.

I don't believe in overpaying for any player.

Some of the other available free-agent defensive tackles include Odricks former Jaguars teammate SenDerick Marks, Cam Thomas, Jason Jones and Glenn Dorsey.

Would rather roll with just Bromley and Thomas if it aint Odrick or Marks.
He's
Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/14/2017 2:58 pm : link
a weird guy. At times he looks very good. Belichick was glad when he left Miami as he gave the Patriots problems.
Hankins was younger and better
RetroJint : 4/14/2017 3:23 pm : link
than any of these guys. But that's done so now it's time to total the roster building scorecard:

QB
RB
TE +
WR +
OL
DL (-)
LB
DB
SP (-)

Strongest gain is definitely at WR. The TE unit goes from blows to probably mediocre. DL gets a kick in the ass. They lose the PK. I'd say to date, the Giants are running in place since the end of the season. Still have time , however .

impressive trick to take differing opinions from a group of people, combine them, and make it seem like the whole group had the same opinion and changed it later. i like it.

Good roster perspective. I think if you include returning players from injuries, I would add pluses to running back and safety.

I get a kick out of you guys who think that the BBI posters who want this player will be the same posters who say, "no big loss, he sucks", if he doesn't sign. They will be different posters.

I think my reply to GoTerps post went way over your head. Mine was mimicking what GoTerps would say, in each instance. Not BBI. You may want to direct your outrage his way. But carry on...
Orrick is a great player...
prdave73 : 4/14/2017 7:08 pm : link
When healthy. Health has been a concern. If they dude is healthy, I would love the Giants to pick him up. Could use the pass rush from the interior for sure.
Odrick.
prdave73 : 4/14/2017 7:08 pm : link
Damn spell check
Odrick ?
Archer : 4/14/2017 7:22 pm : link
I doubt that Reese would sign Odrick.
Reese prefers larger interior defensive linemen.
If you look at the DTs that Reese has drafted or signed as free agents they tend to be very large players.
Stop the run first.

There was a comment
old man : 4/14/2017 8:01 pm : link
that Hank, being large like a NT, was good, especially when playing against Dallas and its Oline 2x a year, and I agree. Ad it would be a backup should Snacks, uh, have a situation.
But we also need a DT that can blast through or by the guys that Snacks occupies to get some pressure up the middle. Like DEs, can't have enough DTs. I have more faith in RThomas than in Bromley, but sign a vet, draft one in rd 2, and let T and B fight for a spot.
I'd take Odrick or Marks
TD : 4/14/2017 10:46 pm : link
If healthy, we'd lose nothing with the loss of Hank. Both solid players.
Another thing - Odrick has that Canty-like frame that we seem to like
TD : 4/14/2017 11:42 pm : link
He would appear to be a solid fit. Health is only question mark.

I wouldn't say Giants have gone after massive players. Chris Canty was very tall and lanky, but still under 300. Outside of Hankins and Linval, we also looked at guys like Marvin Austin, and Jay Alford.
Interest in Odrick
Big_Pete : 4/15/2017 2:32 am : link
With Hankins signing with the Colts, It does make sense that we are interested in Odrick. But it will have to be for the right price.

If I can to guess, I would expect the kind of contract numbers the Giants are considering offering Jared Odrick would be along similar lines to what we signed Cullen Jenkins for in 2013 (ie: $8m over 3 years including a $2m signing bonus).

There is, however, one player on the market I believe would be a terrific fit for the Giants. That is Jared Odrick, let go this offseason by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Odrick is a 30-year-old who has 23 career sacks. At 65 and 301 pounds, Odrick has played defensive tackle, defensive end and outside linebacker during his seven-year career. He might be a nice rotational piece, especially as an interior rusher on passing downs.
