Mock the mock draft

annexOPR : 4/17/2017 11:52 am
1. David Njoku, TE
2. Dalvin Tomlinson, DT
3. Alex Anzalone, LB
4. D'Onta Foreman, RB
5. Brian Allen, CB
6. Darius English, LB/DE
7. Jerry Ugokwe, OT

Give Eli yet another toy in the pass game, Tomlinson should be the next DT to help us forget about losing yet another DT in free agency, love Azalone's athleticism/potential (injury discount), Foreman the hammer to compliment Perkins, Allen's size/tools offer too much long term potential ... 6/7 get 2 guys to groom with rare physical attributes and hope the coaches get through to them.

Mock away. Tomlinson/Foreman/Allen are officially "my guys" in this draft.
We need a tackle earlier than

Foreman is lasting till the 4th. I would want a bigger discount on Anzalone. Flip-flop them and it looks pretty good.

Is Tomlinson better than Wormley/Walker?
Agreed that Foreman is long gone by then

but like the crop of players you've assembled.
I'm not crazy about Njoku. I do like Anzalone.

I think that Tomlinson is a good player and would be a nice fit for us, but with his injuries is likely a 3rd rounder.
Dalvin Tomlinson

"Tomlinson is one of the elite run defenders in this draft class. Tomlinson can beat the blockers across from him with quickness, length or strength. Tomlinson has a thick strong lower body which makes him tough to move. He can also keep his opponent at a distance with his arms and locate the ball very well. Tomlinson has the ability to play two-gaps as well as the quickness to be a one-gap penetrator."
reason I waited late for OT
annexOPR : 4/17/2017 1:35 pm : link
is even the upper echelon prospects come with question marks that make me wonder how quick they'll impact/how high their upside is to begin with.

my biggest fear is, if njoku is taken before, the giants go for an OT in round 1 - a spot I don't see the talent/value matching up with.

If a QB drops, there are some teams behind the giants that could use 1 ... I would kill for a trade down and possibly accumulate a 3/4th round pick. so many guys I love in that range. gonna be an interesting 1st round.

Jerry Ugokwe 6'7 320
annexOPR : 4/17/2017 1:39 pm : link
"Good-looking on the hoof with NFL frame and length. Makes use of his long arms and big hands. Plays with good foot quickness in his initial, lateral movement. Has ability to reach three-techniques with more coaching. Athletic enough to secure, climb and locate moving targets. Displays a nasty streak and looks to finish blocks with some attitude. Can be a nuisance to pass rushers when he strikes first and locks those long arms out in pass protection. Has experience at both tackle spots. Outstanding intelligence and moldable prospect."

didn't play football until late in HS, his "weaknesses" are essentially coachable issues.

Give me this guy on day 3 to develop for a year or 2 over most OL going in the 1st 2 rounds.

Don't get me wrong, Tomlinson is one of the guys I hope they'll target. But he's had ACLs on both knees. So, if Ramczyk's hip is a concern, I'd think Tomlinson's knees would be a similar concern.
I don't like Anzalone as a 3rd round value
allstarjim : 4/17/2017 1:55 pm : link
Guy is ALWAYS injured 18 games played in 4 years of football, if you're doing the math at home that's less than 5 games per season. And even if you throw the freshman year out, you still come out to 16 games in 3 years and 10 games in the last 2 seasons. And it's not like he was a tackling machine when he was playing, either. Maybe you take a shot at a player like him in the 5th or 6th, and he'll probably be off the board at that point. Yes he was a big time recruit. And yes, he had a great combine. But if he's not on the field, he's useless to me. Just too brittle of a player to be considered in the third.

Walker in round 2 over Tomlinson
if not for injury concerns
annexOPR : 4/17/2017 2:02 pm : link
both Tomlinson/Anzalone have 1st round talent ... hence why I'd roll the dice at those respective prices. Both could start day 1.

It's a dangerous game. If they are healthy coming into minicamp 2017, that's all I care about.

I like Walker as well ... just think Tomlinson has the higher upside. Dominant run defender who could develop as a pass rusher and basically be Hankins 2.0, at least.

I wouldn't be shocked if they take an OT in first round.
Giant John : 4/17/2017 7:45 pm : link
But I don't think that's the way they will go. I am thinking best player available at 23 then OLine in 2nd or third round.
I want Beef!

2 OL, a DT and a DE in the first 4 rounds. You win when you command the line of scrimage. Everything else in window dressing assuming you have a QB.
Not trying to be critical but ...
Torrag : 4/17/2017 10:02 pm : link
...I now seriously doubt you'll have a chance at Foreman or Allen that late as I see both as 'Risers' in this Draft and I'm not a Tomlinson fan that early.
