in fact , I think the NFL should not have any division games until week 5. With this CBA, September games have the same quality of Augst games in the 80s. Level of play sucks.
That said, my opinion is if you are going to play a divisional opponent in the first 2-3 weeks, you may as well play on the road. Both teams are still figuring themselves out and the home field advantage becomes more neutralized, IMO.
That's 2 huge markets, in prime time. It's a business first.
This does not explain why the Giants cant have the game at home. This also does not explain why the Giants cant play another big market game like Philly, or Washington. Its fucking corny for it to be this way every year.
get a difficult away game done first. Especially good in that they've had success there. A win would be a huge springboard to a great season. A huge opportunity for the Giants.
but I'm ok with it. It's a win-win for us. If we lose, it's a road game that we were supposed to lose. If we win, it's gravy.
^This. It also worked out well last year with it being the first starts for Prescott/Elliot.
And this year the Cowboys have a ton of turnover on the defensive side of the ball and figure to have at least one rookie DB starting. So getting them early is a plus (IMV).
this point, it's stupid and unfair. We do we have to keep opening in Dallas every year? We should at least open with them at home, but it would be better to begin the season with a different opponent.
was the score of the only game where we didn't open the season with Dallas - not many pleasant memories of that one
We also opened in WSH in 2011 and lost that game. Really the only highlight for us that day that I remember was Hakeem Nicks catching a bomb down the right sideline for like 70 yards or something like that.
Cruz also dropped a pass coming across the middle and nearly never got another chance after that.
A road divisional game is absolutely the best way to start the schedule. If you lose you have 15 games to make up for it. If you win you've given a division opponent the worst possible start to their season.
Lives in Jerry Jones wallet. Dallas has too much time to prepare for us. So if they get a quick win or loss they just have to worry about playing us once when the games really matter.
While I believe the Giants are improved and Dallas has taken a step back, to open the season in Dallas 4 out of 5 years is absurd. They couldn't at least have the game in New York?

that they have to open at home (again) against a rival and divisional team that can beat them at home (again)?
Some of you guys just like to complain about utter nonsense. This is a great opportunity to knock off the Giants biggest competition in the NFCE on the road, game 1 of the season. And they've been there and done that already. They're 5-3 at AT&T.

Two things....
1. EVERY GAME MATTERS and the don't matter any more than a divisional game.
2. We have just as much time to prepare as Dallas does. Would you rather play Dallas coming off their bye week?
I have to admit...opening every year in Dallas gives me a chuckle. But I'd much rather play our divisional rival at their place rested and ready to go.
I picked up was the Dallas away to start season, monday night home against Detroit, away at Philly week 3, then I believe he said at Tampa week 4. Went through the full run down but couldn't keep up with it.
he ran through the full schedule twice and no other media has posted it yet. Not on twitter or anything that I can tell. I think its cause all the beat writers are jumping all over this Eli presser.
at Dallas
Detroit (MNF)
at Philly
at Tampa
LA Chargers
at Denver (SNF)
Seattle

LA Rams
at San Fran
Kansas City
at Washington (thanksgiving)
at Oakland

we usually come out of the gates healthy and on fire. Hopefully, we can grab another road victory against our toughest divisional rival and get off to a good start. We then get them in our house later on.

Jinxy cat, jinxy cat where arrrre you?
And other than LAST year, when before that have we opened the year healthy?
FWIW, I dont mind opening in Dallas. I tend to agree, lets get that one out of the way. But its the lack of thought that goes into making the schedule that is frustrating.
I don't think it's right to risk ruining Christmas and Thanksgiving. Poor show by the scheduling team to have one team play on the two biggest national holidays that occur during the football season. Poor show.

I hope we start in Dallas every season.
Because variety is the spice of life.
Variety is overrated. For pure viewing quality the divisional games are worth three or four non-divisional games. I'm not getting psyched for a game in Oakland, or hosting KC.
young teams in football. Giants-Raiders isn't the same as Giants-division foe, but on paper at least, it should be one hell of a game. Especially if they complete the deal for Lynch.
They're actually built pretty similar to Dallas with a massive OL and a ball control offense. But they have a much better QB and Mack on defense.

And both away games.
I guess the Giants are playing New Year's Eve too. At least the players get paid but this is pretty brutal for the fans and their families.

Isn't the whole league playing on christmas eve or christmas? (Except that week's thursday game). I'd rather not have the Giants play on thanksgiving too, but the league isn't exactly doubling up on us with the christmas eve game.
Dallas is the closest stadium to me so I go every year

The entire league except for Thursday and Monday night game play on Christmas Eve.
The everyone plays on New Years Eve, since it's the last week of the season no Mon/Thu games.
So the Giant fans are getting "screwed" only on T-Day. Big whoop.
Figures, I hate Joe and Evan and only tune in at 1!
Fucking hate them two, saw on twitter banks was coming on i put their show on caught banks just in time Evan asked him about the giants skins match up thanksgiving and not even 10 seconds later joe interrupts banks and says the one good thing about the jets not being good is they won't get many prime time games, then he's asking banks jet stuff,, banks doesn't work for the fucking jets asshole. That would be like micheal Kay asking Marty Lyons about the giants, can't stand them it's always about the mets and jets so sick of it, they have to get their two teams into everything.
It would, although obviously we'll only have that slot if we're in contention for a playoff spot. Better to be locked in and have a less meaningful game, but I'd certainly rather be playing for the playoffs on new years eve, than running out the clock on a disappointing season on new years eve afternoon.
But schedule makers...seriously?
Be nice to open with them at home on a Sunday at 4.25
For goodness sake.............
I kind of like playing on Thanksgiving and Xmas eve though.
This is ridiculous. At least give us the f'ing home game for once.
This does not explain why the Giants cant have the game at home. This also does not explain why the Giants cant play another big market game like Philly, or Washington. Its fucking corny for it to be this way every year.
Yup, at a time when a lot of other games aren't drawing as well. Going back to the well
Because its not the only game in the league that would draw high ratings. And why is it always IN dallas every year too?
Fair point. But the markets are just as big if the game is played at Met Life.

Dallas lost 3/4 of their starting secondary in free agency...it's not going to be an easy start to the season for them.
Beat them at their home to start the season, and it could be a big first step towards winning the division.
I hope we start in Dallas every season.

It was also Monday Night, traditionally a night of horrors for Giants fans.
+1

Because this game could be critical for the division title, Coughlin McAdoo will have the team fired up and giving 100%.
After this game, only 2 more road-division games left for the year.
How is that possible? His show isn't even on yet

just announced the entire Giants schedule on the air.

he cut into Evan & Joe to break the news on the full schedule. He had the full schedule.
