QB Josh Johnson

May 25, 2017

Q: Josh, how you been?

A: Good as always.

Q: You guys going to four-peat this year USD [University of San Diego]?

A: I hope so.

Q: It looks like for now you are the number two guy. Is that kind of your understanding at this point?

A: I’m not looking at it like that. I’m looking at it as taking advantage of every rep I am getting and maximizing it.

Q: You got two new guys in this year. You got one guy who has never played a down of NFL football and on the other hand you have an NFL veteran in. What can you learn from each of them?

A: You can always learn something from everybody because everybody is different and so you see things and some things show up, or you hear a perspective you have never heard before and you document it, process it, and filter it out and see if you can apply it. That’s the same way I’ve always been.

Q: What are your initial impressions of Davis Webb thus far?

A: He’s a smart young kid, a hard worker, he can spin it, and he is coming in and has fit in very fine. Very well.

Q: Josh what do you think your chances are of winning that number two job?

A: My chances are as good as anyone else’s. It’s about going out there and earning it and proving it on the field and that’s all I am focusing on doing.

Q: What made you want to come back here after last season?

A: I was here last year, and they wanted me to come back. I established something here last year that let them see what I can do on the field. I had an opportunity to come back and compete and earn something that was there and to me, that’s all I can ask for.

Q: I know it comes up a lot - not throwing a regular season pass in a few years. Do you hear that a lot? I guess the other thing would be is how do you stay ready in that sense? I know you obviously played in preseason games.

A: I hear it, but it’s weird to me because it’s like they don’t credit preseason; like it doesn’t happen. That’s football, and I play well in the preseason. That’s the opportunity that I was given and for the blessing of the other guys that I’ve been behind, they haven’t gotten hurt so I’ve got the opportunity to stay ready. I’ve always been prepared, since I was younger. I learned that from the guys I initially played with, to always be ready because as a back-up quarterback you never know when your opportunity is going to come. It is just something for people to talk about and it doesn’t bother me. My job is to go out when I go out, and play and perform, and if you check my tape recently I have done that.

Q: Do you feel like you are a good fit for this offense though?

A: I feel like I am a great fit for this offense.
Great questions as usual
