Sorry to create a new thread, I didn't want to spam the in game thread. Eric, you can delete if it's an issue.

I can see them potentially being buyers and sellers.

Obviously they need IF help and SP/relief help if they can get it.

I'd love to find a taker for Jacoby even if we took back a SP or ate some salary. Headley is another vet who could draw interest. If things get much worse, who wouldn't mind seeing if anyone wants CC for half a season? I don't think they'd trade Tanaka but with the opt out, he could draw interest if he agreed to exercise it.

Lastly, what to do with Betances? Potentially, they could have traded him last year. Hopefully, they can get him straightened out.

before the Rule V draft, because they have to. But I suspect they'll likely only trade in big deals for guys who'd be under their control for a while...not for this season, which is going down the tubes.

No need for rentals with this young team. Only area where I could see that is they shut down Holliday. I don't know how much they want Gary at DH.

young MLB ready talent that will be under contract for a while then sure. I think they try to go for SP if possible. Otherwise I doubt they do much. Then again, they still have a decent shot at a wild card spot if guys start getting healthy again so who knows.

Do you see a situation where Headley, Gardener (I hope not), CC, Ells, Tanaka, less likely Castro, Clippard, Betances get traded to contenders? I would have listed Matt Holliday but not sure anyone would want him.

It's by far the best thing for this team. Even allows us to keep Gardy another year if we want.

The only position I would trade for Obviously would be pitcher

I'd give up a bunch of our B and C list prospects with an A lister like Mateo or Frazier for a superstud reliever (Andrew Miller level) or a starting pitcher who's young and amazing.

Otherwise I'd sit right and let the garden grow organically like it has.

1B is a concern going forward but someone can be converted..

also maybe the Dbacks swap Greinke for Ellsbury in the offseason. Maybe, doubt it tho

Denny I agree with everything you said. I posted in that work-Widow thread with you. Ellsbury contract was horrible day it was announced. CC reassurance is fools gold.

They should trade for Austin Rivers, Doc Rivers, River Phoenix, Rivers Cuomo, A River Runs Through It, or Joan Rivers. Plenty of options.
