According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the team is pursuing a potential trade for first baseman Justin Bour. Unfortunately, Jackson added the Miami Marlins "are not going to give away a player who’s productive, cheap and under team control through 2020."

They must have really soured on Bird.

Too bad. It would have been nice to see all these kids succeed together but it sounds like the Yanks just want to move on.
pass

Choi until Bird can get back. No reason to overpay for captain mcshifty 2.0
Bour would be a good acquisition

but Miami is going to want a King's ransom for him.
If they're going to look for a 1B,

I hope they explore acquiring Abreu. As was mentioned above,Bour is largely a pull hitter & although the RF porch would be appealing, someone who basically uses 1/3 of the field, not so much. Plus,if the Mets would do a deal w/the Yanks,Duda would be a perfect fit for this year w/the hope of a Bird return for 2018.
Are you saying trade for Duda for half a year?

No thanks.

Agreed, Miami would try to fleece the Yanks knowing we need a 1B; we have players to trade and money and all that good stuff. I like Choi but recall reading he is batting .105 vs lefties which ain't good.
Put Holiday at first

Save J Man for late defense and a left-handed bat off the bench . Trade Hicks for bullpen help.

That's what I'm saying, especially after listening to Cashman's interview on YES. Bird is still their 1B of the future so for a half season,Duda would fit the bill as a LH power hitting 1B.
In other news ...

Castro and Holliday on track to return next week. Austin and Hicks are still a ways away. Hopefully Frazier continues to excite while Hicks is out (it would be really nice to see a Wally Pipp)

Imo, I am not trading anybody for a rental this year. Duda is not turning us into favorites to win it all.
They'll sit tight for a couple weeks

once everyone is back and see where the chips fall. If they're winning and looking solid, I could see them making a move.
I agree

Let's see what this team looks like when we are at full strength, or as healthy as we will be nearing the deadline.
Wait for the offseason

Absolutely not. Hosmer has Boras as his agent and wants Mega dollars- when he is merely slightly above average.
