Toronto has traded DeMarre Carroll, a future first-round and second-round pick to Brooklyn for Justin Hamilton, league sources tell ESPN.
And get a guy that the coach likes - and the contract expires the first offseason the team looks to be players again.
Carrol was also coming off injury last year so as a player he may be better this year- and fits a need at the 3 and d spot.
I strongly did not enjoy Hamilton-
Nets badly need a 4 now
I don't blame Billy King at all. He was taking orders from the Russian blowhard who made outlandish guarantees.
The Nets have quietly had a very good offseason.
The Nets have a more competent FO than the Knicks. No doubt about it. Marks is undoing the mess that he inherited from Billy King.
I would happyily trade for Marks and Atkinson as a Knicks fan. Those guys are doing a great job in a difficult spot. Smart trade for them. Much better than capping yourself out by paying Tim Hardaway JR 71 million.
Great to get a pick and solid gamble on a guy Atkinson's coached
When Boston signed Hayward I really wanted to get Crowder and Carroll is a very similar player, just older and coming off 2 down years in a system he didn't fit. The draft picks make that a very acceptable risk to take on.
Curious to see what Marks does at the PF position and with the glut of guards on the roster. Or does he just continue to try to stockpile talent regardless of position and go for KCP?
for at least 1 year (who knows what Lin does next year). Reddick was their top target and they weren't going to put Lin on the bench for him right now, so would think they'd take the same approach with KCP. He could be a great 6th man though. Don't think Marks would go with a 3 guard starting lineup and an undersized PF (Carroll or RHJ) but maybe.
The strategy was to go all-in. All in means to sacrifice the future for now. It doesn't mean to make absolutely retarded deals at all cost. They gave up a lot for Deron Williams and he didn't perform as expected. King isn't to blame for that. Joe Johnson was a solid trade in my mind as they needed that trade to keep Williams and Johnson was a very solid player for them.
They got hosed for Gerald Wallace and then got absolutely mugged for Garnett/Pierce/Terry. To not lottery protect any of the 4 1st was insane and would think that Ainge wouldn't have held up the trade for a slight concession of even one (ability to flip the 2017 1st?)
As I've said on a ton of threads, Knicks and Nets should be turning cap space into picks. This isnt an amazing return, but it is good enough. They could have overpaid a UFA instead, and not gotten picks back.

Kcp
Green
Simmons
Miles
The best fit would be green- best player kcp- and cheapest and shortest term miles.
I don't see them going for plumlee or Dedmond given Who they drafted and neither can shoot outside

I'd try to get KCP at a discount. 4/50 mill. Where else is he getting a big deal? Still only 23...

Currently lineup looks like
Guards- Lin , druss, whitehead, dinwiddie, Goodwin, kilpatrick
Wings- levert, Carroll, rhj, Harris,
Bigs- mozgov, booker, acy, rookie from Texas, Nicholson
Really any of the kcp, green, Simmons would fit-- the only crowded position is ball handling guard. or preserve space for another deal
