NFT: Knicks, Griffin possibly discussing contract

KingZ : 7/9/2017 1:19 am
Wonder how this affects Melo talks. Could he help Cleveland get Melo or could he not do business with them?
Link - ( New Window )
I heard he might replace Doc Rivers duties
DennyInDenville : 7/9/2017 1:55 am : link
In LA.

But apparent doc rivers and Austin rivers want to stay together and Griffin may wanna split them up

Just heard that from some guy on twitter @riveraRiversnbaAll_AccessRiver

Oh no

the Knicks suck again. Dont blame Griffin. Who wants to work with a piece of shit named Dolan.
Doesn't surprise me at all.

The whole structure and pricess just didn't make sense to me. Griffin sounds like a smart man.
According to the post, Griffin is no longer interested
GeofromNJ : 7/9/2017 4:37 pm : link
Reportedly, he wanted to hire his own scouts and was not thrilled with being the GM under Mills who gives every sign of wanting to meddle, just like his predecessor. Note the signing of Hardaway before a GM came on board. If Mills runs the show, this could be another disaster, not unlike Thomas and Jackson.

Isiah Thomas
Stay home

Only way to help the Knicks, otherwise nothing is ever going to change.

Agreed. He can do the TV gig for a year or two and wait for another opening, with an owner that has a clue
As usual not buying it

The not agreeing on a role for him when he's being considered for GM position.

Translation: we're not on same page with important things. I.e. Hardaway's contract, trading Melo. I'm sure there are basketball minds that think fielding a team with Melo, KP, Hardaway, other young talent should be able to have a winning record. Not far fetched but it doesn't look good to dump Melo for nothing like they did with Spree for Van Who.
Mills
KingZ : 7/9/2017 6:58 pm : link
I was at first encouraged that he'd have bigger role. Not so sure now. Allan Houston might not be much better under the current structure. Apparently there are people in the front office that have survived several changes in president/GM, not a good look. The city of NY should be able to fire Dolan for negligence.
Isiah Thomas

Is the single worst thing that ever happened to the Knicks. They are still digging out from that hole.

Not even close. Jim Dolan is head, shoulders, knees and toes above anyone else you can name. He's the one who the shitshow comes back to over and over and over.

As far as GMs go, Scott Layden was far worse. He dug the franchise into a deep hole. Thomas was awful, but team wasn't really any worse off when he left than when he took over.

Even if you think Thomas was the worst, hes been gone for 9 years. Walsh filled in the hole years ago. Grunwald and then Phil dug new ones.

Which will bring us back to Do(lan)

Totally agree with this. As clueless as Phil appeared and even though the losing continued, he got rid of a fair number of bad contracts and kept/add some draft picks. The messes created by Dolan's hires had every GM, starting in a hole as you mentioned. Need Dolan gone. No simple fixes whoever the GM is.
Is there a possibility Dolan owns Deadspin
jcn56 : 7/10/2017 7:15 am : link
and this is all just an elaborate scheme to get them lots of easy jokes?
