http://Foxsports.com has gone all video. That is why I no longer can write on our site.
My least favorite part of every website is autoplaying videos
Not just in that Foxsports is going video-only, but that on so many websites now, especially from news sources, I can only "read" a story by seeing a video. I'd much prefer to be able to read an article instead of being forced to watch a video telling a story. I'm not in the "get off my lawn" or "Man Yells at Cloud" phase of my life (yet), but the pervasiveness of the video over a writer's content is really starting to irritate me.
can def. read though. Also, what is FoxSports going to show in its videos? Interviews? Replays? Analyst commentary? Possibly. Most likely though it's going to be typical uninformed banter from retired athletes, mixed with news that's already old by the time they get it uploaded.
Not exactly compelling, but I didn't visit their site much anyway so not much lost.
to read Stew Mandel (college football) and Ken Rosenthal (baseball). Two of the best in the business. No reason to go there now if its all video.
TheRinger (Simmons site) isn't as good as Grantland, but it's a similar concept and has all sorts of long form sports articles and some really good writers. Almost no ads too. I recommend it to anyone if you're looking for the complete opposite of Foxsports.com

The Ringer is solid, but there are only a handful of writers on there that I will even bother with. If I see an article is written by Kevin O'Connor, Simmons, Mike Lombardi, or Jonathan Tjarks I'll read it, but most of the other stuff on there is crap that is trying to be trendy by putting a pop culture spin on it.
I actually had a conversation with someone who is a host of a Fox Sports radio show. He told me that there is ZERO affiliation between Fox News and Fox Sports. I was ribbing him because he's an ultra-liberal working for Fox.
Nothing to do with the OP, just some random information. (whether it's TRUE or not, I didn't look it up).
Safari is supposed to somehow block this from happening in the new apple OS coming out in the fall

This.
Came here to say the same thing. One of the most annoying things on the internet, particularly with sports sites.
Deej.. that made me laugh!

banner ads CPM is so tiny compared to video ads
it is no surprise that fox sports is doing this
