Brandon Marshell WEEI interview (didn't go well)

Giantsfan79 : 7/13/2017 10:13 am
you can watch the video via the link. He walks out on the interview.

On one hand i think the questions were BS, trying to bring a lot of old shit back up to the surface.

On the other, I fear that from here on out every interview he gives will ask the same sort of questions, making this a potential detraction.

fans get caught up in what is a distraction. On the field, the only distraction is the opponent.
Don't blame Marshall at all

Just a couple of douche bags trying to make a name for themselves.

WEEI, I don't blame him.
Not worried about it because

not every interview is going to persistently steer towards race baiting. Brandon gave them fair warning and tried to answer diplomatically, but they were pushing for a sound byte.
Without having listened to it

I understand why you linked it but giving them more clicks is exactly what they want.

90% in favor of Marshall
Tried watching the clip but the sound was so bad I couldn't take it.

What were the questions?
Brandon, I hope you read this.
CT Charlie : 7/13/2017 11:00 am : link
I completely support your decision to humbly, politely, and diplomatically walk away from this interview. These announcers are being completely disingenuous -- no, dishonest -- to pretend that they weren't hoping to bait him into controversy.
Distraction? I guarantee you that none of his teammates
Section331 : 7/13/2017 11:03 am : link
give a crap about this, and any that do, applaud BM for what he did. Boston sports radio is the worst.
...

The sound is bad so I only listened for a min. One of the first questions was about whether the Patriots were a contender for his services before he signed with us.
Marshall doesn't have to answer anything he doesn't want to.
Brown Recluse : 7/13/2017 11:07 am : link
He asked them to change the subject and said he would leave if they didn't. And thats what he did.

He was cordial the entire time. Even apologized for spilling his coffee.

I don't see this becoming a distraction at all.

I'm not talking about this interview per se becoming a distraction. But if you are a journalist who sees this interview, how are you not also going to ask the same sorts of questions? that's when it could become an issue.

These radio hosts were terrible, good for B Marshall both ending the interview and not giving them any more time , and for spilling coffee all over their equipment. Typical Boston douche-baggery those hosts are.

Hopefully that reporter will get the same response from Marshall.
Two morons trying to get Marshall to say something controversial,
SterlingArcher : 7/13/2017 11:29 am : link
he did the right thing to walk away!
Again - this is not an issue...

Nobody is going to follow the lead of two guys who look like douches, and if they do, it will do nothing but drum up support for Marshall.

The idea this could even blow up into a distraction is a ridiculous one.
Agree not a distraction and I think Marshall was right to walk out
pjcas18 : 7/13/2017 11:46 am : link
and I have no issue with it (and who cares if I do).

but he played in NY long enough what did he expect Boston sport radio was going to ask him about?

How he likes Eli so far? What it's like to change teams but stay in the same building?

Marshall's comments on Brady's suspension were controversial and they have a long, petty memory in Boston and hold grudges and when the opportunity to interview Marshall, face to face presented itself they pounced.

and hate to say it but NY sports radio is just as bad. Boston sports radio sucks, NY sports radio sucks, DC sports radio sucks, it's a tiresome, tedious, awful sub-culture that exists because of a common denominator, dumb, easily influenced people, in all cities, who are fans of all teams.

After he leaves they were baffled "what were we supposed to talk about"... Oh I don't know..... SPORTS?! Race baiting clowns... Good for BM!

Social media has raised
Marine One : 7/13/2017 1:48 pm : link
awareness to radio/media guys who not many years ago were sports information hacks at JUCO schools! Now, let's see how fast we can piss off a high-profile athlete to bait the clickers to redeem those Lowe's coupons! Send out the clowns.
In all fairness, were they race baiting?
Matt M. : 7/13/2017 1:51 pm : link
I don't know the history, but it sounded like they were asking Marshall about his own comments about the Brady suspension last year. That's not so unheard of...on a Boston radio station. That said, once he asked to change the subject because he didn't want to have a race discussion with them, they should have. Hell, he was being pretty candid about the football related questions.
And, no, I don't see this being a distraction at all.
Matt M. : 7/13/2017 1:57 pm : link
Like others pointed out, this isn't the type of interview that other reports will be digging up and referencing.
This made me respect
Sgrcts : 7/13/2017 2:00 pm : link
Brandon more. Even the way he spilled his drink, and stood around and apologized and tried to clean it up, he was overly respectful.
I've met Marshall
Big Rick in FL : 7/13/2017 3:02 pm : link
Numerous times from when he was with Denver to the Dolphins to the Bears. Always a very humble guy. He'd talk to everybody. He was very open and candid when talking about the NFL including the players in it. Which most players won't do. They'll tell you some scrub is a great player or an organization is great when we all know it's not. This was complete bullshit though. He asked to change the conversation as he didn't want to talk about race. That's understandable, but then they started talking about his domestic violence issues. Which haven't been a problem in a long time. He's a completely different person then he was with the Broncos and it shows. He hasn't been in trouble off the field for a long time. I 100% support his decision to walk out on those douchebags.
Players can sure as hell fall under distractions but tough

to imagine this is going to be one of them.

I liked that he walked away personally....

You did the right thing. Those were Boston broadcasters, ergo, They are looking to make you look bad any way they can. Glad you left. I would use stronger language, but there are probably some kids reading. They can't get over the beatings Eli and the Giants gave their team.

Agree completely. BM seems like a really terrific guy and the more I see him the more I like him. Bahstan sports radio chowdaheads 0, BM 1. When will these guys learn that they just can't beat the Giants?
Thumbs up, Brandon
