Bush 43 began to pay more attention to this and Obama turned it up a notch, but this is still a real problem because, as Willie Sutton said, it's where the money is. A lot of bogus opioid subscriptions

if you're going to bilk the feds with fake prescriptions, dont do it with fake controlled substances prescriptions. And if you're going to write scripts to be filled to let you black market sell some opioids, either pay for them out of pocket or get them reimbursed by private insurance.

This is fraud 101 stuff folks. This is the easy stuff.

even the low hanging fruit amounts to billions of dollars in fraud.

Imagine if someone decided to get the least bit serious and crack down on this? We'd probably have enough money to fund NASA sending all these fuckers to Mars.

And if you dedicate it to tax reduction that's the equivalent of the Affordable Care Act payroll surcharge on roughly $140 billion of wages.

All controlled substance scripts have to be written digitally now. Docs use a double authentication scheme for security. Much easier to spot troubling prescription writing or receiving patterns.
