It's worth monitoring, imo. Is he in good shape? Does he have the mindset to battle for a position and earn his spot? Can he play FS? Is he willing to accept a prove it deal?
And Revis gave off good vibes... why not. He'd obviously have to desire a limited role and at the same time show a commitment. If those conditions were met why the hell not.
He still wants a great deal of money and is delusional about his value. At the right price it would be worth it if he were willing to play a hybrid FS/CB role.
He's somewhat on the 'toast' side, unless last year was total disinterest the last 10 games, which is another issue.
Unless Marshall knows something we don't, then, MAYBE.
Because there's no fucking way the Giants are going to beat the Jets 6 million dollar salary. He'd have to take the vet min and get the rest form the Jets, i.e. not get more than he gets to not play.
I don't see a situation where he plays and earns more money than he would otherwise.
It seems to me that he could a really good free safety. He was always a very physical CB so even if he's a bit too slow to play on the outside he might still have some good years over the top.
but I would like Revis as a red zone cover specialist. I don't trust his deep speed to cover one side of the field anymore, but inside tight quarters he could be a beast if he comes in fresh. Reese always wanted him and I bet he still regrets settling for Aaron Ross when he could've had Revis if he would've been willing to part with more to get him.
Tenure is more than he's worth now. Add to that he's not exactly a guy who has a career fillled with people
Saying what a great leader and/or teammate he is.
When you are a HOF talent none of that matters. The issue is He hasn't been near that level in years. He's made his $$$ and will likely hope injuries make some Team desperate. Even if someone went down I'd hate the signing for the Giants
but not sure if Revis fits that mold, as several of you have said. Strikes me that the ego vs ability at this point of his career is probably too out of proportion
but that Jets team was also a mess. Revis checking out coupled with being older was/is a bad mix. But I'll leave it to the FO on whether or not he has anything left. I'd be happy to have him here as depth and/or a hybrid role.
so he wouldnt work in the giants secondary at all
the guy was a man shutdown corner but he lost a step and doesnt have the same intensity anymore he is no longer a shutdown corner and doesnt hit or tackle well enough to be a box type safety either
that 6m from the jets means its almost impossible for him to see any money and he has always been about getting paid throughout his career that likely means he could be done for good in all likelihood certainly doesnt appear like he would be happy as a bit player on any roster or lower his value enough to make it worth the gamble

Not only was he not a good tackler, but his last season it appeared as though he wouldn't tackle, avoided contact. May have to do with what UConn said, but why even consider this? Too many red flags, age, lost a step or three, desire, he wants another team to pay his sinecure.
I could understand him going through the motions. Plus, the role he'd get here is way less responsible than Revis Island. I don't think he did badly when he played for NE. Guys like Revis can contribute even if it's muscle memory. And did somebody really write that they'd take Leon Hall over Revis? Really? The only question I have and somebody alluded to it is the question of salary. I'm of the mind that the Jets would have to pay the difference between whet he'd sign for and the $6 he's due from the Jets whether he plays or not. But, I don't understand contracts. Is that true? If so, and I'm sure he'd love to stick it to the Jets, the Giants could sign him for nothing and maybe that's why they're the favorites. That's the key for me.
Jets fans would see the best player their team ever drafted win a Super Bowl with their arch rival New England and their big brother / landlord NYG. The Jets fans are a tortured people.
He certainly did quit last season.... Based on last year he's done. I'd only be curious if revis wasn't necessarily looking for a lot of money and he would have to convince in the meeting that he wanted to actually play NFL football in 2017. Who knows where Revis is really at.
he is making $6 million this year even if he doesn't play. If he signs elsewhere he forfeits that $6 million. So that means he won't sign for less than $6 million. I doubt he signs for less than $7 million. The 31 year old cornerback, who has already made a ton of money, won a Super Bowl, and is coming off a bad year will not play again unless a team massively overpays him.
That team will not be the Giants. He's done. He has multiple forks in his back. Link - ( New Window )

Didn't know that. So unless Revis has a burning desire to play for pennies while throwing away millions, no...
Seems like a Patriots move to sign him.
That reminds me. We once had a cb who's nickname was toast.

A good bit of talent is still there but not sure he cares to show it any longer for the good of the team...
