They might not be our best bunch but there is good qualityNFL talent at the position. Decent depth. Continuity. I'm fine with the LBs. They shouldn't hold back the front seven.
MLB BJ Goodson will help our front 7 compared to last year's bunch
If DT Robert Thomas is at least DT Jonathan Hankins equal (not saying much based on ratings....) and MLB Goodson upgrades Shepard (not saying much either...) our front 7 will be just as good if not better than last year's group. It is also a deeper group depth wise I think with the addition of Taylor, Tomlinson. We'll see.
Don't care what the stats or metrics show, Hank was a good player. I think we're ok with the big three DT rotation next to snacks. Don't have to be great there just solid. We should be.

The LB talent is below average and they do hold back the defense. This defense goes from top 5 to potentially historically great with a legitimate LB. The front 4 and secondary are littered with all-pro caliber players.
None of the LBs are particularly skilled at anything. Not good rushing the passer, decent vs the run, ok in coverage. Can't have all-pro's everywhere but the LBs are definitely the soft spot of a potentially elite defense.

I've said it before - I never really saw a difference in play when Thomas and Bromley were in the game. With everybody wearing a 90s #, it is hard to tell who was in the game, except Snacks. Obviously Hankins was the better of the three as he played the majority, but I don't think the drop off was that great.
Giants have a horrible track record against them in recent years. We didn't exactly blow them out in our lone win against them last year either. We should have, Wentz threw two picks early allowing us to go up 14-0 and Eli threw for 4 TDs. Yet Philly kept things close.

Looking at the game more, we lost the time of possession battle by 6 minutes. Running game was just terrible.
exactly why I consider them the biggest threat in the division ... very good front 7, upgraded WR, solid OL, ertz ... I'm not "worried", but they could be a pain in the ass if Wentz progresses

Agree with you. We should have kept Hankins like Snacks asked us too. Once again we may have screwed up a top ten defense with this move.
I sent them an email -- he's a Houston Texans ER
The author must have used the first image (Houston Texans) as a template for the Giants but forgot to change one of the lines. Editorial fatigue.

Lots of strong linebackers on other teams whereas our defensive investments have alternatively focused on CBs.
i'm generally fine with the ranking...

Philly has a very good front 7
Reese did go after Jernigan.

No.
