more hits for Tebow. Freak.
Do you think he'll finish the year in AA? Are the odds of him coming back to play baseball again next year over 80% at this point?
Sandy seemingly closed the door on a Sept callup so maybe they wait until next season to "help" Bing and ticket sales. I haven't seen any indication he will "retire" after the season but who knows? He's already accomplished more than anyone (including the Mets) could have expected. He's been pretty amazing all things considered.
Guys like Rivera and Flores are good to have around. Players get hurt all the time and versatile IFs can be worth a few extra wins over the course of the season. Remember the days of Loney, Campbell and Reynolds getting significant meaningful ABs over the course of the season? I'd hate to see us go back to that.
Well TJ Rivera isn't an example of a guy I'd be looking to trade. I'm putting up all pending FA on auction and listening on anyone else. #9 prospect in the Astros system for Jay Bruce is still better than nothing.
The first move the team makes is the most important. It's the signal to other teams what the starting point is, the value, the desperation to make the move. The first trade is the absolute most vital one - hence why Cabrera has not been "given away" as some have suggested should be done...
As for those that don't want to root for losses - it'd be the best thing that could ever happen to the franchise. An all out collapse for 2.5 months!!
If it's true that because of Cabrera, Rosario has been in the minors this long (and otherwise they would have called him up sooner), that's an indictment of the front office and coaching staff.
It's not like Asdrubal Cabrera is a difference maker.
It reminds of the excuses that Al Leiter and ancient Jon Franco said Kazmir would be bad for the clubhouse because of his cockiness.
I have my doubts Cabrera is much of a factor in whether or not to bring up Rosario. Rosario would be taking Reyes's starting spot at this point not Cabrera's.

Sandy, and put the for sale sign out and leave it out until the dead weight is gone.

I'm not personally buying it. I think it's mostly about wanting to settle the clubhouse post 7/31 aka who is gone/who is here etc. I'm not saying Cabrera is some angel but which veteran on a bad team embraces being replaced? And yet it still happens without a story. I'm not buying this one.
Is it really good for the Mets if Wheeler gets tagged tonight? Any new prospect that we'd get likely wouldn't make up the value "lost" from our controlled MLB guys underperforming.
I'm not telling others how to feel. I just think the worst possible situation is the one you laid out. Going 8-2 over the next 10 games and then standing pat or even worse "buying". They have enough talent going into next season with some tweaks they can legit be a playoff caliber team. This roster as of today not that. I'd take a few chips for guys who certainly won't be back next year + playing time for the kids. Win win.
well I dont think those teams would want him anyways.
DBs and the Yanks are set in the OF. Twins and Rays I'm not so sure about.

According to Wagner, Bruce has the right to veto a deal sending him to the A's, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Phillies, Rays, Twins, and Yankees.

Maybe as a 1B? Though Duda is obviously a better fit there.
