As a birthday present to my dad I got him tickets to his first live Giants game later in the year, the matchup against Tampa Bay on 10/1. This will also be my first Giants game or actually our first in-person NFL game to begin with. We hope it's worth the over 3 hour trip to get there.
But some questions for the fans that have been to the live games....
1. What are the home fans like at Raymond James stadium? How do they treat the opposing team fans?
2. How do you go about getting a field pass to possibly meet the players?
3. Being it's going to be an over 3 hour drive, what's the best time to get to the stadium as far as parking goes?
4. My dad suggests eating at a nearby restaurant to avoid paying the stadium food prices, are they really that bad?
Any suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks guys.
2. ?
3. Early as possible. I'd look into a cheap hotel right by the stadium for after. By the time the game is over and you get out of parking lot, that will feel like a long drive. You can stay for under $100.
4. Keep an eye out for our tailgate thread before the game and find us. Should be pushing 100 people this year.

Re: Tailgate - I think Fred had mentioned close to 80, but if the Atlanta contingent shows up, it could easily be over 100.
Also, with regards to fans, they are a mellow group.
Food isn't cheap, but it's not outrageous either. If you want to get something before there is a Chili's & Winghouse directly across the street. If you want to eat I'd get there at noon and get a parking spot close to the stadium. Then I'd walk to one of those restaurants and walk back to the stadium. Unless you guys aren't able to. It's about a mile worth of walking.
For the record, if this were Jacksonville, it would be a very different opinion in terms of how Giant Fan friendly your experience would be. But Tampa or Miami, NO PROBLEM!
You and your dad have yourself a BLAST :)
What everybody said in above threads.
Most of us are from out of town and many are staying both Saturday and Sunday nights. We're going to meet Saturday night for dinner at Leroy Selmon's. By time the game is over it'll be after 7. Unless you leave before the game is over to beat traffic (then why go in the first place) you wouldn't get out until after 8 and a 3 hour ride it'll be 12. We'll cook after the game too!

Fred, there are so many Giants fans going to that game that it will be MetLife South again.

I'm planning on making it as well. Will be in Orlando the week before for a work conference and then heading to St Pete's to stay with a friend. Would be interested in the tailgate.
