So reading the Ranaan piece on Mac's terminology I heard of his Rule of 53 - his goal is to reach that number in pass completions and rush attempts combined. It's supposed to be a metric in terms of winning.
Last year, we accomplished this four times, going 3-1 when we did this.
When we were below 50, we went 6-4
Between 50-52, we went 3-0
It's an interesting dynamic that we were able to win so much falling short of that metric.
I mean, it is the fourth quarter and you are down a TD. You have the ball third and 6 on their 45 yd line. Are you really going to consult the rule of 53 to decide what to do?
