NFT: Question for BBI caulking experts

8 Ball : 8/6/2017 10:32 pm
I just re-caulked around my kitchen sink, but tried to save $5 and used a tube of old silicone caulk. It didn't cure. Any expert opinions on how I remove the uncured gunk so I can put down a new bead? My sink is stainless steel, and the counter is granite. I plan to scrape most of it out but how do i remove the residue so the new silicone caulk will properly adhere? Thanks.

At your hardware store. And yup....it will stink up your kitchen temporarily
get rid of the old caulk, scrape it out....

you have to make sure that there is no moisture under the lip of the sink, but I'd clean it first. Make sure there is no mold or mildew underneath there. Get it with a good cleaner, Tilex; et al. Then dry it, anything you can do to dry it...paper towels at first, and then if you have to a blow dryer.....for a nice clean line tape of with masking tape, the edge that meets the counter, and the edge that meets the sink. The more expensive the caulk, the better, but for a sink it should be clear.
