Hard to believe how many great assistant coaches Giants have had that went on to be great head coaches. Arguably the two greatest, Lombardi and Belichick are Giants.

More teams used to have joint workouts ... Bill isn't doing anything different. Just going old school, and taking it up a couple notches, as far as frequency.
I would imagine you'd absolutely get to see more

from your team, try more things, etc. in a practice than even in a pre-season game. The evaluation process for player cuts must be easier when you're seeing guys in these situations, too. I'd think you'd get a much more realistic view on who guys are and what they can (or cannot) do.

Some get a little too zealous, some teams don't want to deal
with fights that break out. I can see with the CBA now,
why BB does.
