NFT: We lost someone special today

MadPlaid : 8/7/2017 4:12 pm
It is with deep sadness that I must let you all know that my dear big sister, schnitzie, lost her battle with cancer this morning. She did not suffer, and although we knew the end was near, her passing was still a shock. She hadn't posted on BBI in a while, but back when she did, she thoroughly enjoyed the witty banter that often accompanied the lively debates on the forum especially when they were good.

I know that she made a lot of friends through BBI, and kept up contact outside of the site. She would want you to know that she treasured the things about BBI that made it great especially its community feel and how so many times it was there to help people in need.

Cancer flipping sucks. Such a merciless blight on existence. Remember to keep those people who matter to you close, and to let them know often how much you cherish them.

RiffRaff and I and the entire Plaid family will miss schnitzie greatly.

my deepest condolences. Your sister was a terrific person. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and went to a few Yankee games with her in 2007 and 2008 at the old stadium. She loved her Yankees. I remember going to an afternoon game with her in 2007 and she went crazy when Giambi hit a walkoff home run. She came to a Red Sox game later that same year and we sat in my seats in the bleachers. We only went to a few games together, but had a great time at each game. She used to bring seemingly half of her apartment in one of those giant bags to games, always made me laugh.

I had no idea she was sick and feel terrible about that. She was one of a kind and she will be missed.

RIP, Andrea.
Thank you. Everyone

Schnitzie was a big personality in real life as well as on BBI. She really had a lot of fun posting here.

Some the debates she participated in got contentious, but more often then not, they also included a great deal of humor. She would argue well with anyone, so long as they debated intelligently. If they slipped and showed their less than intelligent side, there would be trouble.

Now, I am not entirely certain of this, but I pretty sure that the phrase, "blast her in the butt" was a schnitzie original. I think it was related to a debate regarding sexism and the inevitable crassness that men may sink to. I could be totally wrong about this, but I do recall that the first time I saw it, was in a schnitzie post.
Mad Plaid. My condolences. She was a great contributor

Getting to know her even a bit in Albany was a real pleasure. She was spirited and kind. Losing both her and Hope seems so unjust -- both gone so young.

I hope she got to witness the promise of Aaron Judge. I imagine she would have loved seeing that.
So sorry to hear this.

your sister was an incredibly thoughtful and kind person, and she helped me through the most difficult moment of my life even though she didn't know me from a hole in the wall. I will never forget that as long as I live.

All the best to your friends family during this difficult time.

I hadn't seen her post for a while and didn't follow up. A rabid Giant fan and a spirited debater, I always enjoyed the conversations even though I was on the other side about 70% of the time.

My deepest condolences to you both and to your families.
Very sorry for your loss

I was thinking of Andrea just yesterday hoping all was well. Many years ago she and I would keep in constant contact via Aol and share what was going on good or bad. She was always nice and upbeat and that was before we even met. I feel honored to have known her...RIP schnitzie

her and I certainly had our differences in political, social thought over the years but I always respected the passion with which she argued and the indelible impact she had had on the many who met her here. At the end of the day we're all Giants fans and more importantly humans trying to live our lives the best way we can. You have my sincerest thoughts and well-wishes in this difficult time.
MadPlaid. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
