Odd Marty in Albany note

gidiefor : Mod : 8/9/2017 10:40 am
Marty always liked to spend at least one report noting double uniform numbers. He didn't consider that a ringing endorsement of permanence on the roster.

Today in looking at the new roster:

K Mike Nugent shares # 6 with WR Jerome Lane
FB Shane Smith shares # 43 with CB Deshaun Amos
FB Jacob Huesman shares # 48 with S Trey Robinson

Take from this what you will
You need to unretire..

Also Eric Pinkins is listed as S/LB which probably helps his case

Hey Gidie. I think you're referring to my Kiss of Death posts

BTW, nice work on your collaboration with Sy on the camp reports. I can't wait until I see today's.

Anyway, my kiss of death posts were for players issued the same jersey numbers. They were a lot easier to write when there were a lot of duplicate numbers. During the last few years the Giants seem to be making an effort to limit the number of duplicates.

And of course. in those days when camp was in Albany, it was useful for me to memorize all the players' numbers, so I paid much more attention to the numbers than I do now.

Today you're at camp with Sy while I'm home waiting for a guy to clean the lint out of my dryer vent. Life is seldom fair.

Not fair at all (sob)
I'll be traveling to Albany tonight for my annual summer visit to my son and daughter-in-law. We will still visit SPAC for phliy Orchestra and probably pay a viwsit to the track but every year now I am reminded how we used to be able to go to a practice while I was in town.
I don't think anything of it ...

UDFAs & street FAs come to camp hoping to make the team. These guys are at the back of the line for number assignment. Between 90 players and a number of retired numbers there are not enough numbers to go around, so they get to pick a number to wear. If they make the team, they get to select again based on availability.

Be very surprised if he doesn't make it. Spags loves the Big Nickle. W Collins slimmer it makes sense to have a bigger SS LB type.

Yea, apparently he is well versed as a LB and S during his days in SEA. Could he be insurance for K. Robinson? Also K Rob is only on a 1 year deal. If he plays well, could be looking at a bigger deal and Pinkins could fill his role shoukd that happwn
