Now that we have had a chance to see Engram who of the picks in front of us would you want more for THIS YEAR'S Giants?
I say only Garrett, Thomas, Fournett. Possibly Adams, but we are OK at Safety this year. Possibly McCaffrey, if we were gonna use him creatively.
1 Browns Myles Garrett DE
2 Bears Mitchell Trubisky QB
3 49ers Solomon Thomas DE
4 Jaguars Leonard Fournette RB
5 Titans Corey Davis WR
6 Jets Jamal Adams S
7 Chargers Mike Williams WR
8 Panthers Christian McCaffrey RB
9 Bengals John Ross WR
10 Chiefs Patrick Mahomes QB
11 Saints Marshon Lattimore CB
12 Texans Deshaun Watson QB
13 Cardinals Haason Reddick LB
14 Eagles Derek Barnett DE
15 Colts Malik Hooker S
16 Ravens Marlon Humphrey CB
17 Redskins Jonathan Allen DE
18 Titans Adoree' Jackson CB
19 Buccaneers O.J. Howard TE
20 Broncos Garett Bolles OT
21 Lions Jarrad Davis LB
22 Dolphins Charles Harris OLB
23 Giants Evan Engram TE
I mean, I'd like him to actually suit up in a game or something before acting like we know what we have.
Either way, a better question would be is there anyone you would want after Engram was taken?
24 Raiders Gareon Conley CB
25 Browns Jabrill Peppers S
26 Falcons Takkarist McKinley DE
27 Bills Tre'Davious White CB
28 Cowboys Taco Charlton DE
29 Browns David Njoku TE
30 Steelers T.J. Watt OLB
31 49ers Reuben Foster LB
32 Saints Ryan Ramczyk OT
be offensive rookie of the year but we have yet to see
a single down of live action .
I am looking for big things out of Goodson and I like Pinkins adding some size presence as well . This defense
might be next to impossible to run against .
I am praying to God that Flowers blossoms and Hart progresses enough to make the line at least solid .
If that happens I see 11 wins and a division tittle .
I'd like to think my list will be extremely short. But we'll see.
Engram hasn't played an NFL down yet. Mega excited for the kid and think he's going to be a great weapon - but he's got to play first. Training camp isn't exactly the best way to evaluate a player.
Well, then Engram is quite the value at #23...
Engram was my 2nd choice on draft day. Reports of his speed and movement got me excited about him.
Other than a few guys at the top I wouldn't trade our guy for many.

You are an unbelievably annoying poster with this broken record you continue to play regarding Engram.
Remember Beckham got injured in camp and missed the beginning of the season. 1 year is too early to really evaluate a draft. He hasn't even set foot on the field for a pre-season game yet.
Some people talked about David Wilson like he was going to be the next Barry Sanders. And perhaps in a different universe he'd have been a pro bowler. That is to say even beyond talent evaluation there is randomness in success.
I hope 22 teams regret passing on the kid for a long time but none of those teams are feeling that today.
You have to get excited about adding that guy to your team.
But this is waaaaay too early. How many people wish they had Landon Colins now over most of the guys picked ahead of them

Apparently I understand the NFL better than your reading comprehension. I know it is way early - and clarified that in a follow-up. I would bet thatsome teams regret some of their picks already. That doesn't mean they won't continue to work with them. I am just thinking that SO FAR it looks like we did well.
Googs made fun of the fact that I only wanted a couple others of all those picked before us. Fact is that we did not need a WR or QB and some of the others THIS YEAR as much as we needed a TE.
Those that did understand mentioned McCaffrey, Ramzyck (sp), and Baker.

Whats your problem dude? I like Engram a lot, always have. But I can't comment how silly it is to believe he was the 4th best player in this draft? Ease up.

Not sure i am following your logic. First and foremost, forcing a first round pick based mostly on need ensures a team isn't drafting correctly. With that said, NYG has ignored finding athletic TEs and LBs for years so Engram at least helps in that respect.
Nevertheless, there were talented and worthy guys in the top 50 picks at many positions we could have used, including OT, CB, S, RB, LB, QB and yes...TE.
In my opinion, suggesting only 3 guys were a better pick seems short-sighted...

works with comments like that. Is it fine to be excited about Engram? Yes. I am too.

Sorry, but you didn't write much. I comprehended it perfectly. My point holds. It's difficult to evaluate a player after one full year. What makes you think you can evaluate them before a pre-season game has been played? What about all the players that need full pads before they can even begin to be evaluated properly? (So all OL, DL and Pass rushers) PLUS it's also a fruitless effort to try to evaluate a QB until you see them in a live game.
You asked a stupid question because you were excited, like I said we all are. But don't lash out at people that are pointing out you are getting a little to hyped up with insufficient information or sample size.
Its cool, not sure what the problem is Great Dayne. You are correct in saying that it is too early to make a definitive statement. Nobody is arguing with that. It is intended as a discussion based on what we do know/think. We know a little:
Engram is a hard worker
He is picking up the playbook quickly
His blocking is not bad based on very early returns
He has good field speed and moves and cuts well
He catches the ball well and is producing (in practice)
The Cleveland TE Njuku? is struggling so far
All the above has been documented in camp reports.
Don't participate if you don't think it is worth your time, but the question is not stupid and neither am I.
He is not the best player on the offense, but he is the matchup key player on the offense. Depending on the play you call, he is the player that the opposition always has the wrong player type opposing him.

Bob - I'm not sure what you mean by - "he not the best player on offense"
I guess if you are comparing him to an Offensive lineman, a running back or a quarterback -- he's not the best player -- but if you are comparing him to a WR -- he matches up well with the best (talent, speed and skill wise) in that department -- and if you are comparing him with TE's he matches up well with the best of the "new breed of TE" like Graham and Reed -- both of whom have been all pros.
