My mother is in her late 60's and really struggling with her hearing. She's owned a cheaper pair hearing aids for a few years now but they are so bad she now rarely uses them. She says she's getting depressed from the isolation that you get from hearing impairment.
I really want to help her out and find her a great pair of hearing aids but I have no idea on the new tech and what's out there and what actually works. Willing to spend whatever it takes to help her out. She lives in a small rural town in central New York and her local specialist is some hack who only sells a cheap brand of aids so we are looking online for better options. Appreciate any feedback on specific models, features, etc. Thank you!
PS: She's a huge Giants and will get a kick out hearing that a Giants fan page is helping her out. Being raised outside the US, she doesn't understand everything about the game but watches every week, I think so so that she can talk Giants with me, really a sweet lady.
I have Meniere's Disease and, at times, I can't hear a thing without my hearing aid. Mine is a Phonak, but I'm sure there are others that are just as good.
Go to an audiologist.
I have resound hearing aides currently and before that Oticon. Both are great hearing aides!
FYI - I am deaf in one ear and 80 percent loss in the other.
also I keep hearing commercials for MD Hearing aids.. supposedly decent quality 75% cheaper.. 800-440-1759
