like a lot of players coming free at once less than a week before the season I wonder if clubs have a veteran guy they know won't make it they will let him go earlier.
I wouldn't be surprised to see teams starting to cut dead weight after the 2nd PS game
What would be the advantage of reducing the roster early? You want to control as many players as possible as long as possible. If guys are hurt or just terrible in camp, you might get rid of them, but you'd want to bring in someone else rather than leave the roster spot open.
It can't be a money thing. The cost of camp fodder is negligible for an NFL team.

That would be advantageous for the player. But it would only be advantageous for the team if there's a guy they want to sign.
I'm expecting to see a lot of fringe players moving around in about 10 days between last preseason game and second regular season game. Vets on roster for Week 1 have contracts guaranteed for the season, so teams like to sign fringe vets after week 1.
Not sure what the advantage would be to cutting guys early if you don't have to, I'm not sure I agree with the new policy because teams will have to go through that many more guys that have been cut to see if they want to pick anyone up AND the guys that have been cut will have that much less of a chance to hook on with another team (and potentially learn another teams playbook). Obviously not a huge deal but what was wrong with the ways things were?
Amazing to me how many loyal "fans" don't pay attention
It's hard to argue that they need all four now.

This is going to be like the evening following the draft.
