There offensive line really struggled to keep Wentz clean. Wentz is pretty good at escaping defenders, has a little Ben Rothlesberger in him that way. If their oline struggles like that all year we will be in good shape.
Can't imagine it was more than a series or two, right? Let's not go too crazy over the first pre season game. The Giants may be a bit rusty tonight too and hopefully people don't start jumping off of bridges if they don't look sharp.
in preseason last year (mainly the offense). So I'd take this with a grain of salt, we have no ideas what these players and coaches are working on when getting these reps in meaningless games.
Because I don't care about preseason regardless of who is playing. Most of the game will feature guys who won't make the team, the teams don't run their full playbooks, players aren't at top speed yet, etc etc. There is no reason to take preseason seriously.
how every season people put too much stock into preseason. It literally means next to nothing. It's not even like a real game other than the fact that they follow the same rules. It seems like every season people put too much stock into preseason and then the season starts and people forget. It's obviously because people NEED to talk about something.
A) Just as we match up well with the Cowboys, Eagles seem to match up very well with us. In particular, their front seven on D vs. our O-line. While our WRs should be able to roast their secondary...that only matters if the QB is upright (which he never seems to be against that team). The Cox/Jernigan combo at DT is going to be very hard to deal with.
B) Wentz is good. I come away impressed every time I watch him. Far more impressive a QB to me than Dak. There are still questions about their running game, but the guys added at WR should be a big step up.

C) It's the Eagles.
D) Also, with the game on the line, on 4th down, the refs will let them PI.
...those worrying about filly this season are jumping the gun. They are a year away and that's if they have a good draft and can get some stuff done on the open market.
them really achieving all they need to do with their roster (the secondary remains a huge hole as does RB imo) and already being good enough to make some noise. I think both are true, especially if they give us trouble in the h2h matchups.

I was being sarcastic as I agree with you 100%. In 20 plus years on BBI this place always explodes during meaningless pre-season games
Because lat night was proof "Barnett is a fucking beast". He claims the Eagles D-line is WAAAY better than the Giants D-Line, which of course made me laugh..
when trying to evaluate starters, but that doesn't mean it has no value. It is a good opportunity to see the young guys to evaluate how they are adapting to the speed of NFL games. That is what the preseason should be about.
There's a debate to be had over who has the better overall unit
Eagles
DE - Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, D. Barnett, Chris Long
DT - Fletcher Cox, Tim Jernigan, uncertain
You can see there's a pretty stark contrast in how these groups are constructed/where the depth is. But certainly, starters on the field, its easy to make an argument for either team. I like our edge guys better as all around players, though their group is probably a bit deeper and, we'll see, but may be superior as far as pure pass rushers. As much as I love Snacks, Cox is right there with him, and Jernigan is better right now than anyone we're lining up next to Snacks. Our group has better depth.
I probably take the Giants group overall as we've got better depth and stopping the run is still a priority to me (especially when coupled with our superior secondary). However, that group they have really worries me.
What we have next to Snacks yet. I like Timmy Jernigan but he's not an All-Pro that Dalvin Tomlinson can only hope to attain that level of greatness.
And Fletcher Cox is a great player, but nobody is on Snacks' level in terms of stopping the run. Nobody. Cox is a great interior pass rusher.
Barnett may end up being a beast, but until he starts doing it in games that count, then it is what it is...a nice debut performance in a preseason game, signifying almost nothing.

And, if you forgot, were brutal on offense last year. Yes, tonight isn't a big deal since Eli and Odell aren't playing, but when they do, I'd like to see some cohesion and even a score vs a #1 D. I think the only score they put up last preseason was against a second team D.
Has looked horrible in preseason and guess what they were horrible in regular season too. It's obviously different but you can definitely glean some stuff when the first teams are playing.

Didn't forget at all but we've looked like that before, arguably as bad or worse in the 2015 preseason and the offense was just fine.
1) The first team O was out there for ONE series, and got a TD. Wentz looked pretty good improvising and getting out of some trouble, but nothing spectacular.
2) if there was anything that didnt look good, it was the Packers 1st team D. They couldnt finish sacks, couldnt cover receivers. They just looked blah
3) Its preseason game number 1. Teams treat game 1 like its a fancy scrimmage. Thats it. To say a team did NOT look good in any game but game 3 is just ill-informed.
Has the 100% right. The preseason means NOTHING! If McAdoo was smart he wouldn't play many key players until the 3rd exhibition game. Lots more to lose then win during these meaningless games. I just got ill watching Beckham and Marshall warming up to play like they really are going to gain anything by playing?
My thoughts exactly.
Yeah, Philly media seems to think first-team offense was A-OK.
I laugh at you around midnight tonight

That smells like 1-4 for those fucks.
Wentz's ablitlity to allude sacks is something the NFC East will have to deal with.

playing without Cox, Smallwood and Johnson. And I think Limpdick is on PUP.
I laughed. That was good
Thanks. I'd like to thank the Academy and Andy in Halifax for an assist for starting yesterdays thread about the eagles being undermanned.
