NFT: Yankees vs Boston 7:05 game thread

superspynyg : 8/11/2017 4:38 pm
Jamie Garcia 5-8 (0-1 yank) 4.49 vs Eduardo Rodriguez 4-3 4.06

Yanks lineup
LF Hicks
DH Sanchez
RF Judge
SS Didi
3b Frazier
1b Cooper
CF Ellsbury
2b Torreyes
C. Romine

Red Sox lineup
2b Nunez
RF Betts
LF Benintendi
1b Ramirez
DH Young
SS Bogaerts
C Vazquez
CF Bradley Jr

We really need to win tonight. Can't make Rodriguez look like a CY Young candidate. We need hits and runs. Sox are in a tear. 9-1 in last 10 games including 8 in a row.

We have Severino on the mound tomorrow and he always gives us a chance to win.

Gardner's slash line the past 2 weeks...

Gardy's been struggling
bceagle05 : 8/11/2017 4:44 pm : link
but I'm surprised he's not in there for an important series like this. Maybe we'll see him late if there's a clutch hit needed in the late innings.

Dang Man : 8/11/2017 4:51 pm : link
Ellsbury has struggled the last few years. I like my chances with Gardy. He's been a vital cog for this team.
Eduardo Nunez has been a huge pick up for them
RGhost : 8/11/2017 5:04 pm : link
especially with Pedrioa on the DL. Looks like they've also been playing him around the infield to give guys a rest.

Holy Smokes! 420/442/780/1.222 since the trade, just looked it up.

He was raking after coming back from the hamstring injury in July in SF, but that's nuts.

Judge 0-3, with 2 walks, 2 K and 5 LOB until Joe moves him down in the lineup?

That's still a .400 OBP for a game. Considering that no one else in the lineup is likely to do that, I doubt he moves down.
Judge still gets on base.
Red Dog : 8/11/2017 5:30 pm : link
Sanchez is the real problem.

If whoever was hitting behind him scared the pitcher, he wouldn't be carrying that line every game.

Sanchez probably has the second or third best OPS on the team the past few weeks. He's been good with no one on base and absolutely HORRENDOUS with anyone on. I guess moving him up to the 2 hole mitigates that problem... hopefully.

Garrett freakin' Cooper is the only guy on the team who's even made solid contact with RISP lately. Everyone else is striking out, popping up, or hitting a worthless fly ball with 2 outs. It's fucking ridiculous.
I really like Judge
mstyles22.0 : 8/11/2017 5:39 pm : link
he's been great and I want him to succeed. And yes, he doesn't get a lot of protection.

But man, he looks so lost up there.
It also wouldn't surprise me
mstyles22.0 : 8/11/2017 5:46 pm : link
if things got heated this series between the two teams this weekend.

It's mid-August, the Sox are red hot. The Yankees are fighting for their lives. There are a lot of young players new to this rivalry and sensitivities will be at a maximum.

I'm not predicting a Varitek - ARod situation, but a bench warning or two wouldn't surprise me.

Fights happen a lot less with young players who are new to a rivalry. It's the experienced players holding a grudge (on both sides) that usually cause the tension.

Of making it through the Giants game without seeing a score to this one...so I can watch Yanks/Sox later?

This game is more important, but it's been soooooooo long between Giants games, I need my fix ;>)

Kyle in NY : 8/11/2017 7:22 pm : link
when they lined their pitching up after the deadline. Gray isn't going to pitch in either Boston series and Garcia starting tonight. Could have easily avoided that
Todd Frazier

sucks the big white mint.
I'm officially in the DFA Frazier promote Andujar Camp.
DennyInDenville : 8/11/2017 7:39 pm : link
At the very least you can platoon Andujar at 3B with Headley against LHP and DH Andujar most days ..

He would give us a Nunez like jolt potentially with his Stick.
I'm here at the game tonight -
Del Shofner : 8/11/2017 7:40 pm : link
Great atmosphere but so far not much to cheer about.
Nunez > Castro and Stephen Drew imo

I'd bat Judge 5th/6th

Sanchez in the 2 hole

He made on bad pitch and he looks bad? I like what I see. As the game has gone on, he has gotten better. He has to get comfortable with his team and catcher.
What the fuck was Ellsbury doing there?

The bats are just absent. This has been an MO of this team for years. How does a whole team just go dead at the same time.

All you can ask from Garcia is keep it close.
This offense is straight trash.

Clearly, a year away, and after some nice reinforcements, hopefully. Yikes.

Another offensive no-show
NYerInMA : 8/11/2017 9:25 pm : link
Maybe they need a new hitting coach? This is unacceptable.
And I know I'm stating the obvious
bceagle05 : 8/11/2017 9:32 pm : link
but John Sterling needs to be put out to pasture. I listened to this game for an hour and heard four "It is high!! It is far!!" calls, yet only one actual homerun.
Sanchez just looks disinterested

How is it the hitting coach's fault whrn they are swinging at piss poor pitches?

Actually they have been God awful for years with the same staff. I'm beginning to wonder myself. Have you ever seen any other good team go into the extended teamwide slumps the Yankees go into?

I don't know the answer.
