I have rarely watched games broadcast on the NFL channel. Here are my first impressions:
The crawl at the bottom of the screen that announces stats and information about other NFL games and upcoming shows on the NFL channel. It is really irritating since the stuff in the crawl has nothing to do with the game that is being broadcast.
It is like having a full-time commercial for the NFL Channel going on at the same time as the game. I find it very distracting because I keep thinking that the information has something to do with the game.
But the brain trust at NFL Channel, no doubt after deep consideration, figured out how to make it even more distracting. They don't just limit themselves to the crawl. Oh no, they generate a picture-in-a-picture showing clips from other games and who knows what else, that spontaneously appear in the lower corner of the screen.
I didn't think that anything could irritate me more than those robots wearing football uniforms, but the robots are not even close.
Now it is your turn to rant:
[Suggestion: the uninspired game announcers]
Thank you NFL Channel.
WTF?
I'm out of market, and the fact that I'm not able to watch non national games without strapping a satellite dish to my house is crazy. NFL needs to learn that the internet is a thing and not going away.
I think the NFL should copy the WWE network formula. Monthly subscription gets you every game, the entire back catalog, and any NFL original programming. All streamed to any device capable. But no, cable companies still stroking them a big check so they continue to stifle innovation.
The NFL is not concerned with "innovation" and could give a rat's ass about whether anyone likes the crawl- Hell, they are barely concerned that their broadcast "partners" are not making ends meet. Courting "Cord cutters" is like vacuuming the couch for pennies for the NFL.
The owners are getting their money and that's all they care about.
