Q: Has there been a play in the past few games where you feel like everything has clicked for you?
A: Just preparing and doing what the coaches ask and being in the right place at the right time. Making sure guys are in the right place at the right time.
Q: Did you get a good review of your sack on tape?
A: Yeah. I looked at it, but it’s nothing to admire. It’s always on to the next play – good or bad.
Q: Have you had full use of the guy in front of you on the sack play?
A: Well, just using my capability to make the play.
Q: Do you think getting pressure on the quarterback is opening people’s eyes to your ability?
A: It’s kind of hard to say. I don’t have that in my mind frame, but I just go out and try to do the best that I can and what the coaches ask. Just put my best foot forward.
Q: Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said that he was critical of you and you fired right back at him. Do you remember that?
A: Not right off the top of my head. I love Spags because he challenges me as far as being coachable and being able to change things on the fly. I love it and I accept the challenges.
Q: How much leeway do you have to change things on the fly?
A: I’m running the show. So, at the end of the day, what I say goes. The guys trust me. He (Steve Spagnuolo) trusts me and that’s what matters.
Q: You sound pretty confident when you say ‘what I say goes.’
A: Yeah. You’re right about that. But, it’s something that I’ve been practicing all last year. Last year, I was preparing as if I was the starter and just the same thing. Just opportunity.
Q: How much do you feel that you’ve claimed your position as a linebacker after what you’ve shown in the preseason?
A: I’m constantly and always working. You never get settled and never complacent with where I am. So, just always working to be better and get better every day.
Q: Can you talk about playing in sub-packages?
A: I’ve been asked about being an every-down linebacker and I accept the challenge. I feel like I fit in great. The coaches – they’re going to put the best guys that they see fit in there. So, when they call my number, I’m there.
Q: Do you want to be a guy that has a high snap count?
A: Yes. Why not?
Q: Linebackers don’t always have a high snap count.
A: Right. Well, I’m used to it from Clemson. So, that’s nothing that I’m worried about as far as personally.
Q: What has been the biggest challenge of moving into the middle linebacker position?
A: I’ve always been in the middle. Played a little bit of outside, but I’ve always been a middle guy.
Q: Did you know DE Olivier Vernon could run 30 yards with a tight end?
A: That was pretty impressive. That was really, really impressive. I was one of the first guys to go in and congratulate him on that play. That was a very impressive play by a defensive end. So, I was excited about it.
Q: Is it more impressive that DE Olivier Vernon can run 30 yards with a tight end from a physical standpoint or because it was a preseason game?
A: That he could do it physically. For a d-end to cover that far – that’s pretty impressive.
Q: Do you think they’ll keep DE Olivier Vernon on sub-packages?
A: I’m sure they will. I’m sure they will.
