Well it looks like we will be missing Sunday night's Giant game TV broadcast.
The power and the cable will probably be down by Sunday night.

I'm hoping to catch the game on the radio, does anyone know which FM or AM radio national station will carry the game ?

I still have my battery operated transistor radio, hopefully it still works.

Any Ideas ?
Can't help but...

It appears that Westwood One radio network will carry the game

the first weekend of the NFL package is free. As long as you have a generator and a computer and a TV, you are home free.

Why I keep a land line and an old plugin phone. Rotary or push button. Without power my home phone works because everything is buried.

If anyone is leaving to go north, leave as soon as possible. I-95 is a bottle neck. A lot of gas stations in Martin and southern counties are running out of gas. In the Port St Lucie / Fort Pierce area there was plenty of gas at the Orange Avenue exit at Love's and Flying J's truck stops. We are staying, my wife is a hospital administrator and can't leave. We have a hurricane bunker built in our house so we will be fine. God Bless and be safe all. Looks like I will miss my first season opener in near 50 years!

The new WAWA in Tradition was fantastic! Lines moved very fast and they were the only gas station that had gas on Gatlin Blvd.

I think me and my dog will also ride it out and hope for the best! Putting up the shutters tomorrow morning.

No place to go, the old house is as sturdy as a cardboard box and I got Dish TV. Situation looks bleak, got up this morning at 4 to gas up at Cumberland farms and we loaded up on food and water. There's 4 of us with our dog, we'll evacuate if need be. Best of luck all.

The storm track is looking more and more favorable for us. Less so for the east coast of Fla. Not sure if I'm going or staying. I've got the house boarded up and my boat tied up as well as possible. If we get a direct hit at Cat 4 or 5 it's all gone anyway. If it turns as the models are showing, we'll get the edge, 75-100 mph winds. That doesn't worry me. Probably going to wait until tomorrow night to decide. I would travel at night anyway. Only problem is where to go. Can't be many hotels in the middle of the state that aren't full. Friends on the east coast will probably get it as bad as here. My gas tank is full and I've got a couple of gas cans full, but I don't want to find myself in the middle of nowhere and no place to get more. The only thing I'm sure of is Irma is a bitch!!

Capt. - If you do plan on getting out, do it now as you will have to get to Georgia (at least). As an exercise in futility, I started searching some out of the way towns to look for available rooms. Marianna, FL (Up by Tallahassee); Silver Springs (Ocala); Hawthorne, FL (smack dab in the middle of nowhere between Gainesville and Palatka); Daphne, AL (Mobile Bay) - All sold out. A few spots for camping, but who the fuck is going to camp in a hurricane?

I have a spot in Nashville with friends, but I just don't want to drive that distance in a crawl on I-95/I-10/I-75. Good luck to you.

I have a feeling that the Governer, will be issuing a mandatory evacuation order for Palm Beach County, at noon today. I believe he is waiting until mandatory evacuees from the Keys & Miami Beach, have gotten further North.

The traffic will never allow you to get a safe distance in time, and the need for gas has "outstripped our supply."

I would get to a shelter (many of them are taking petts), or find a hotel stairwell, they cannot turn any pets away if the owner is an evacuee.

Good Luck, and be safe.
Oh no,

I live in downtown Miami (Brickell Key). Most people here have benn thinking that heading west or northwest is best. I am not so sure. I think the models are all about chance. Right now, we have the highest chance (60%) of experiencing hurricane conditions.

We might head up to my Grandpa's place north of Tampa.I am worried about running out of gas in the middle of nowhere though, too.

I posted in the 2 other threads as well, this hotel next to my folks place has rooms as of last night. We have friends coming from Marathon, where we left yesterday, and they got a 2 night deal for $160. Pet friendly. I feel like I'm plugging this place now, but want people to be safe. Come on over Dan, we'll have a good game day party and get our minds off this freaking storm. Hey Tony any Giants bars in the area?

If this shoots up the middle the whole state gets hurricane force winds, with the east coast getting the rough side of the storm

a lot of stations out of gas around St. Augustine

not all, but many, possibly most. We're most likely staying, but i hope more gas arrives in the state for those of you evacuating.

what part of St. Augustine are you in?

BBiK - I'm likely staying in place. Final decision will come Mid Saturday to see when it makes it turn. The latest update has it coming ashore in the Keys instead of Miami. I was hoping that it was going to continue to drift East sending the eyewall off the coast. Now, it is back cruising up the coast but not off-shore.

lol I missed my chance to make it to Total Wine today… I doubt they’ll be open tomorrow… I closed up my accordions on my windows, I’ll wait until tomorrow night to do the slider and lock down the garage door…

Luckily the latest track now has this going further west, ironically because of Jose behind it… we’ll see over the next 24 hours what the hell this bitch is gonna do...

yes, technically Elkton. Even though it's like 8 miles from downtown STA and the island, it seems to be getting further away. We moved out here 4 yrs ago because we loved the house; wanted a 5 BD with a nice pool, water (small lake) view and privacy (so I can run around our pool naked at night and not get arrested). Didn't exactly like moving west, but have to admit after Matthew and now, kind of like being a little further from the shore and even just slightly higher elevation.

Capt

St Pete is you better option. With the eye going over the lake, LaBelle is way too close.

Agree with CTC, the dike on Lake O is iffy at best and there are predictions of 7 to 17 ft of storm surge on the west side which would push water over the dike, if the dike held.

Please, do not go near Lake O.
Please be safe everyone

Living in FL for 37 years, the last five in the Keys. We evacuated to Georgia yesterday. This one is going to be bad wherever it hits. And it looks like it's going to hit much of South Florida big time. The Giants will be there for us on the other end. Let's make sure we're there for them. Peace.

You were smart to settle a bit west. It is one of the higher elevations in county. I sit at 41'. I know what you mean that it seems to be getting further away. When I first moved here, it would take me 12 minutes to get to the beach. With the added traffic, it takes me 20 minutes now.

I was off the computer all yesterday, getting ready for the bitch Irma. Sounds like you live west of STA also?

I told my 9 yr old son, if the winds and rain gets bad during the Giants game he might have to take one for the team and get on the roof, keep the sat dish dry and keep it from blowing away. The look on his face was pretty funny; I don't know if he thought I was kidding or not.

Good luck through the storm.

We made it just a town over. Blowing hard and down pouring but still probably not hurricane force. It's nasty but he should be ok. I imagine the condo was built to with stand this. Power has been blinking, like just now, but keeps coming back. That generation is tough!!
