or are the Chiefs not a great choice for opening night?
With it being against the Pats I don't think it would matter unless it was a horrendous opponent. Chiefs play then well and have playoff aspirations, it's a good matchup.
to play Atlanta this year so I figured they'd follow the model they used with Carolina Denver and have them open up against each other in a SB rematch. but they didn't do that for some reason.

. Oakland or Pitt would also be good. But I'm not sure how the league decides home verses away so perhaps those weren't options if not Pats home games.
Even if you go back to the start of 2015, they'd be 24-9 in the regular season. They're a good team is the point I'm trying to make. It's not like the Patriots are playing some punching bag that they're going to annihilate.
Man time flies can't believe Madden has been out the game almost a decade
Go Pats for my wallet. I just see this as a lock. Pats kill it in home openers. Think they only lost one ever with Brady starting and it's because they missed a chip shot FG at the end and lost 20-18 vs the cards

Thursday night games are bad enough. Opening up with a Super Bowl rematch is unbearable.
one of the keys for the Chiefs was "Survive the first quarter." Because the Pats come out, get a big lead, "and then you're in a one-dimensional game."
is 0.0 pressure on Brady. Many of those crossing routes he loves so much take a long time to clear, but he has it on every play. I think he had ten seconds on that last play.
#46 -- go back and watch him wiping out guys on that last scoring drive's run plays. THAT is what I hope we're gonna get out of Smith this year as he grows into the position.
The Chiefs are just being stupid at this point. If they don't blitz Brady, they have no chance of hitting him, and he will casually pick them apart. We have the DL that can get to him, and the DBs who can cover his receivers. Brady has no mobility. He isn't a threat to run.
since that fumble on his first carry. It reminds me that I still don't like what Tom Coughlin did to David Wilson in his first NFL game.
If a young player makes a mistake you have to give them a chance to make up for it. Andy Reid is being rewarded right now for showing confidence in his rookie.
Saw that he was taken right before the Giants took Webb. Was there any predraft talk of taking Hunt in the 3rd round? Could have taken OL I'm 4th. I don't think Webb would have lasted another round. Not complaining; just curious what people think. Hunt looks like he's going to be very good
get ripped, no matter where the pass is. Lots of times the pass leads you into the defender, unless you're standing still it almost has too. It has nothing to do with Eli, Brady, etc.
I think they mentioned the defense was new for a lot of a guys on New England, but they've been having trouble all night. KC has run that dogshit shovel pass to Kelce up the middle about 3-4 times, and it's gotten decent yardage each time.
This is gonna be one if those seasons where Andy Reid has a great season and then crushes a home playoff crowd with his game management. Seen that movie.
After the 07 Superbowl win, when I was a freshman in college and on my ADD meds, I took great pleasure in sending a gloating, blistering, estatic email to Curran talking about how he needed to eat a shitload of crow for saying the Giants had 0% chance and would be absolutely destroyed.
This is gonna be one if those seasons where Andy Reid has a great season and then crushes a home playoff crowd with his game management. Seen that movie.
New England is still roughly -10000 to win the AFC East, and both Michaels and Collinsworth did a whole bit during the game about how KC destroyed New England in September of 2014, and everyone started writing them off. They ended up going 12-4 and winning the Super Bowl.
Well, winning the division is a certainty since the only other viable

. Yes and 12-4 is pretty good. No need to throw away 5 losses to make them appear as 14-2.
RE: Well, winning the division is a certainty since the only other viable
That's always been the thing. Even in "down" years, they can count on being 6-0 in the division. Splitting their remaining games makes them 11-5. The fact that they basically get 7 bye weeks a year means they're up for the bigger out of division games - one more game swing makes them 12-4 and suddenly they're in the mix for home field advantage.
losing Berry to an ACL and a possibly hampered Hill is a bummer because they play vs Philly in week 2. I'd have rather seen them lose last night and win in week 2. Now with one key guy definitely out and another key guy on the mend, Philly's chances just got a lot better.

I just talk about it, but the truth is, I wouldn't dare go on them..I'll wait for FMiC's wrap-up..I understand being pissed in the moment, but to make definitive proclamations like above or what we WILL SEE starting Sunday night is hard to read, so yes, For my health, I have to stay off..😎
My take away is that even the great Tom Brady becomes ineffective
when his OL is being beaten. If QB's, and I guess RB's, play behind a crappy line they just can't function. You saw both sides of it from Brady last night. In the first half he could have a picnic back there and was picking them apart. In the second half the pressure came, he couldn't wait on his receivers, starting getting happy feet, and looked pedestrian.

P2, we saw that nearly 10 years ago when we slapped Brady around until we let up near the end of the 4th qtr..

It's the secret sauce of the Patriots' run.
Its amazing how pathetic all the other AL East teams have been. And they have been consistently bad with top draft pick every season. It's like having 3-4 Browns teams in your div
What's interesting is that the Chiefs were 4-11 on 3rd down conversion

I particularly like the "Brady duck" when defenders get within 2 yards of him.

KC is like 23-4 in their last 27 regular season games. So they're certainly a worthy opponent.
Who would you rather have seen NE play against?

is this statement intended to reflect reality or exaggerate? You cinvieniently started keeping score immediately following a 5 game losing streak.
I think it's quite a bit more notable that they went on an 11 game win streak after starting the season 1-5.
I think what they've done since that awful start in 2015 is impressive. You don't? Cool with me.

Agreed, it's uncanny.
You are seeing why they are so good. Their OL keeps Brady upright. It all begins on the line.

Not really.

And Brady is getting a ton of time because the Chiefs defense is only rushing 3 or 4 and are flooding the coverage. Brady is barely above 50%.
Watching Alex Smith right now is a tough task.

Alex Smith can throw 5 TDs tonight and it would change what he is. But you are right Wilson would never play as well as Alex Smith is tonight...

(Oh, wait. We actually have to let the games play out?)
Wrong. It's about offensive throwing protection or whatever the fuck.
Holding? What the fuck are you talking about?
The Patriots never hold. Ever. As if they need to. Pffft.
Ditto.... Unreal
Chiefs ain't laughing! Agree what bull!
The Giants I mean
No fumble at the end??
Are you old enough to remember the Giants offenses in the mid 90s? lol
We had one good RB and that was pretty much the extent of it
Don't fool yourself, we all know NE will win this somehow
I've always wondered what Smith would look like in an offense with more than 2 WR's whose names average NFL fans could remember.
I think they mentioned the defense was new for a lot of a guys on New England, but they've been having trouble all night. KC has run that dogshit shovel pass to Kelce up the middle about 3-4 times, and it's gotten decent yardage each time.

It will be fun to watch.
And now Peters on sideline also
Didn't think so.
Collinsworth just can't bring himself to say the Patriots defense just sucks. "There are a lot of moving parts here...."
Absolute destruction.
Killing it.
Where's your next gig?
Collinsworth I meant
Pats offense isn't dynamic enough without Edelman/Amendola. All of their healthy WRs are one dimensional deep threats.

Why, yes. Yes I can.

Unlikely he'll achieve all of those milestones but holy shit did he look good.
Some of those runs would have even worked with our OL.
Hill cramped up. He's fine.

Weak front 7.

Slow Lbs.
