Many scouts seem to think UCLA's Josh Rosen has an authority issue. Mora is coddling him, as he is an athletic talent but teammates give you the "rolling eyes" when you try to get their opinions. He's a brash kid, much like McNown was coming out of UCLA, but others see a lot of Ryan Leaf temper when the kid is challenged.
Now Darnold is the poster child for a reason, as he is this year's version of Manning while Rosen takes on the Ryan Leaf role. Sure, 4 QBs will be off the board in round one, but I still feel that Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald is going to be the best pro. Yesterday - 5 TDs, 3 throwing, giving him 48 TDs in 14 starts since stepping in for Zac Prescott.
IN TOWN ALERT-more & more, scouts are flocking to Fordham to see their RB Edmunds. Some are even calling Chase a darkhorse late first round talent.
SECOND CHANCE/MAKING THE MOST OF IT-5 star Notre Dame recruit Max Redfield sat out last year after the Irish booted him. He was inconsistent as a free safety, but seems to have found a home in Indiana (PA), posting 18 tackles in 2 games so far. On 10 targets, he's allowed 1 catch for 4 yards.
GIANTS GLASS SLIPPER-strongside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds-Virginia Tech keeps rising up on draft boards. He's 6:04, 239 with 4.52 speed. Yesterday's performance was typical-14 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 TFLs, a forced fumble & 2 pressures. Former NFL TE FErrell Edmunds' baby boy will enter the 2018 draft.
THE NEXT GREAT OFFENSIVE TACKLE-Martinas Rankins-Mississippi State-the 6:05, 319-pound blocker had his second double-digit blocking performance yesterday & in 2 games, has 28 knockdowns, 5 TD-resulting blocks & has yet to allow a tackle or sack. One of the reasons QB Nick Fitzgerald has been able to stay upright so far.
