Their D line? Their secondary?
I mean, I know the Giants went out last year and fixed the D, but those were big sexy moves that cost tons of money with big headlines.
How does Dallas look at glaring weaknesses and fill the spots rather easily it seems, especially with those suspensions? A secondary of no nAmes that look as good as ours?
Meanwhile our Tackles suck and we haven't been able to address it, so they bring in a blocking TE and figure it will help? What the fuck are we doing? Rhett Ellison was paid how much? Jesus H!
Going 0-1 in the division is a big big freakin deal. Another 1 or 2 of those would spell diasaster. And to top it off the Eagles our long time nemesis looked great going into FedEx and whipping the Skins. Perhaps the Giants just have not learned to deal with the CBA yet while other teams have?
I had a bad feeling all week about this game as it seemed like the Giants getting all the press as one of the best in the NFC, let it go to their head.
Here's to hoping that this'll give the Giants a wake up call that they cant take ANY opponent lightly, EVER, that they get their heads on straight and actually start to show up for these games.
I know it's only week 1, I guess I was just hoping that a lot of these issues would start to look like they were clearing up.
What a huge smelly egg fart that game was, as well as this thread.
Rant over. Pile on.
Exactly. I give the Dallas D very little credit. Maybe I'm being a homer but that defensive performance was on the Giants' O not the Dallas D.
Regarding their o-line, once again, Cap Hell had nothing to do with the 2 changes . Free retired. They felt Green was ready to start someplace. He seemed to hold up last night .
Coughlin's HC career needn't had ended so piss poorly if Mara would have spent the money to get some talent in the building. Instead a Hall-of-Fame coach was weighted down with the Ungas of the football world his last 3 seasons.
The salary cap is an elastic accounting device. If you spend the money up front , you can postpone the long-term consequences because you simply push the dead money out until the CBA expires. Jones has a million critics. They haven't won it in a long time. They might stink the rest of the season for all I know. But the choices they made in their secondary were based on the fact that ownership gave up on those guys. Cap Hell was not contributory .
For a guy who had the type of injury that Smith had, I was surprised he moved so well. Lee is such a heady player.
b-but, something changed since last year.
Should have we retained Newhouse?
The bottom line is that our O still stinks. It stunk last year, it stunk in the preseason and it stunk last night. You can't win scoring 3 points. The D was on the field the whole 1st half and wasn't terrible but never had a big play. We drove the ball on the 1st drive of the 2nd half and couldnt score a TD. The offense as a whole was bad. I can't believe that with OBJ out Marshall didn't have a catch until the last minute. Is he washed up?
That said, when push comes to shove against the league's better teams....I think they will crumble. I don't believe the offense can open up and play in a real shootout and I don't think the defense is good enough to keep them out of them against elite offenses.
TIA.
