When does the McAdoo watch start

blueblood'11 : 9/12/2017 7:16 am
This may be a bit premature but this team is built to win now and while everyone rales against the offensive line one has to wonder is it the coaching. There two number ones and a two on that line. And for the most part were highly thought of coming out of college. Flowers not as highly thought of as Pugh and Richburg.

The offense has been an abject failure for some time now while if not for the defense lord knows what the record would be. Eli is on the last half of the back nine of his career. The defense is in place and McAdoo has shown an inability to produce anything on offense. How does ownership watch this mess and feel good about the head coach.

I think in his press conference when he was interviewed after being hired his suit was too big for him because he had lost weight and it was quite the scene and people kidded him about it. Maybe it was an omen that not only the suit was too big but a sign that the job was too big for him also.

The offense last year was bad and if you think things would have been any better with Beckham on the field somehow I don't think so. How good was the offense last year and he played the whole year. How many games is it now they scored fewer then twenty points. McAdoo has been roundly criticized everywhere for this offense and rightfully.

There are a lot of big blue fans who hate this WCO bullshit offense that can't get anything done. And I'm one of them. It doesn't play Eli's strengths and Carl Banks said as much it was hard to figure out what the game plan was. That would be someone who knows what thenes talking about,

There are a lot of big blue fans who can't spell "colored" either, so I try to remind myself that they don't get a vote.

You're more than welcome to pick any of the other 31 teams who do run an offense that you like though. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Bye!

how many offenses would look awful if you took their best player off the field?

I guess I hit a nerve
blueblood'11 : 9/12/2017 8:48 am : link
They had thee fucking points against a so so defense. Two first downs in the first half alone. I don't care if Beckham wasn't on the field. There were still eleven players on the field. So the offense goes completely into the shitter because Beckham isn't on the field. That's a sad indictment for this offense if that's what it takes too be remotely competitive.

I've seen a lot of Giant football teams over the years with a lot less talent on offense do great things because the had a plan in place and because of excellent coaching. McAdoo needs to course correct and fast because if you look at the defenses this offense has waiting for them down the road it ain't gonna get any easier.
The watch started the day he
section125 : 9/12/2017 8:49 am : link
was hired, BTW.

Now as for Eli not being a fit for the offense - no shit - he looked like he never played a game in his life Monday night(hyperbole on purpose). It is like he refuses to adapt to the system. I'm sure I'm wrong, but he wasn't taking what the defense was giving him. Yes the line sometimes didn't give him 4+ seconds, but I think the WCO is supposed to be quick plays to not allow the defense to react.

How about letting the next game happen before the coach is

it sounds like we shouldn't even take the field if Beckham isn't suited up.
I'll be the first one to say that he is easily our best player...BUT, if he is our ONLY player, we might as well give up, right?

Yeah it hurts that Beckham wasn't on the field but to the level in which they played had nothing to do with whether he was on the field or not. We saw it last year at times where you had to wonder if he was even on the field because the ball wasn't thrown in his direction.

McAdoo has not shown the ability to this point he can out scheme the opposition. He has become to this point the offensive version of Perry Fewel. He has his so called plan and sticks to it come he'll or high water.
There is struggling and there is
Thunderstruck27 : 9/12/2017 9:04 am : link
completely being inept. I didn't see any positive takeaways from this offense at all. If I had a gun to my head I'd say Shepard played ok.
For a coach who is supposed to be some kind of offensive genius(it's why he got hired, right?) you shouldn't NEED your best player. It's a team game.

why do you keep ignoring the question? would other teams struggle if you took away their best skilled. player?

so the offebse didnt look good against the cowboys first game last year? ravens? eagles? redskins sns 2 bad turnovers ?

you act loke the defense won every single game last year

I'd rather they stick with him too long rather than cut bait early. If he continues to produce a nice record in the next couple years you keep him.

Head coaches are tied to their QB. He didn't pick Eli.

I think Eli has some productive years left, but just not on this team. He needs a credible running threat and a middle of the road pass protect. Put him on the Texans or Broncos and it's safe to say they're a nice superbowl pick.

The Giants are trying to run the Packers offense. Let's say you had Aaron Rodgers starting against the Cowboys on Sunday. I think it's safe to assume if the Cowboys played him like they did Eli he would've ripped off a couple 8-12 yard scrambles against a 4 man rush and the secondary keeping everything in front of him. They'd be forced to adjust their defense, opening up the deep passing lanes.

Defenses give zero respect to Eli making plays with his legs. It's magnified by poor oline pass blocking.

This is a legitimate question and I agree. Offense is supposed to be his bread and butter and I fully expected them to compete. The offense was putrid Sunday night, Beckham or no Beckham. McAdoo's whole demeanor and body language has a lot to do with this as well as his game plan. I'm not sold on him. I watched a Vikings offense with five new offensive lineman and it made me question it even more. I could go on but don't be calling people trolls or idiots for questioning McAdoo's coaching ability.

No, you call them that for suggesting the Giants will can the guy just after an 11-5 season.

Mac's not going anywhere after this season, neither is Reese. Will Mara step in and shake things up? I don't doubt it, if the results are bad enough, but they value continuity (as well they should) too much to be that knee jerk.

11-5 is 11-5, regardless of which unit is most responsible. Sure the defense carried the load last year, but that is also where management allocated most of its cap resources. Welcome to today's NFL - how many teams are good on both sides of the ball? That said, there are a number of new pieces on offense, and it will need time to gel.

They canned Ray Handley after two seasons because he lost the team. If the defense is worn to the nub by mid-season and start revolting, anything is possible. I'm not wishing nor suggesting it, I'm just not convinced after one whole season and an off-season that McAdoo can adjust. Never once did I question it with Coughlin. I watched the OL of the Vikings and they moved like a text book. I watched the Giant's OL and saw guys blowing past them.

Give me a break with the Ray Handley comparisons. Handley took over a SB champion, and immediately drove it into the ground. McAdoo took over a team that had won 6 games each of the previous 2 seasons, and won 11 games. Maybe he's not the right guy to coach this team, but in no way is Ray Fucking Handley a valid comp.

We have enough capable receivers the RB's are average but capable if there is room to run . I said it pre-game this is the perfect moment to see if the offense has improved and the play book opened up . We got our answer and its the same plan as last year for opposing Defenses and the Cowboys added a few wrinkles with zone coverage we not only got outplayed but out coached as well .
The O-line needs to dig deep and there may be a quick hook early on if we see more of the same .
Mac is not going anywhere this season but anything short of the playoffs with this defense will not bode well .

You did - with the implication that somehow Handley's situation - almost 30 years ago with a team that had just won a Super Bowl and a once in a lifetime defensive player - is comparable to McAdoo coming off an 11-5 rookie season.

TC probably would have, but that's not the point. He wasn't the HC. The Giants have historically been cautious to a fault in firing HC's, barring a complete meltdown, they are not likely to send McAdoo packing.

He got a $200M spending spree on the defense. Its not like he took the same exact team and improved the record. I do think, at least so far, there is a comparison here between him and H****ey to be made.
I think Ben needs to..
GiAnT4LYFE : 9/12/2017 10:40 am : link
Pass the playcalling duties off to Sullivan soon. Our offense looked really good (with a same shitty oline) when he was the coordinator under TC. Last year the offense never looked in sync. It seems as though is feel for the flow of the game calling plays has been lost some as the HC. Pass them off to the guy you hired to run that part of the team.

To add to it, the only time the offense looked semi-decent in a while was the 3rd preseason game, which they said that Ben and Sullivan split the play calling. I'm not sure who was calling what, but where there is smoke there is fire.

Ben needs to hand the reigns over for play calling duties and manage the whole team. I have a lot of faith in him as a coach, and I'm sure he would be even more effective if he did that.

McAdoo is a shitty OC and his offense sucks. No questions about it. No tuning game for 4 years. Reese is one of the best GMs. So can't slam him. McAdoo won 11 games w a shitty O. Can't complain.

Giantfan in skinland : 9/12/2017 11:26 am : link
Chicago doesn't have a player of even Sterling Shepard's caliber to lose. Still played competent offense.

Jacksonville lost Allen Robinson and starts Blake Bortles. Still scored some points/moved the ball.

THE JETS HAVE TRADED AWAY EVERY PLAYER THEY COULD FIND. THEN THEY TRADED THEIR BROTHERS TOO. Still scored some points/moved the ball.

Buffalo has Shady McCoy and not much else. Still scored point/moved the ball.

I understand not being all that effective if OBJ goes down. However, there is more than enough talent left in the tank even without him that there is no excuse for not being able to scrape together a few first downs (let alone TDs/FGs).
