This may be a bit premature but this team is built to win now and while everyone rales against the offensive line one has to wonder is it the coaching. There two number ones and a two on that line. And for the most part were highly thought of coming out of college. Flowers not as highly thought of as Pugh and Richburg.
The offense has been an abject failure for some time now while if not for the defense lord knows what the record would be. Eli is on the last half of the back nine of his career. The defense is in place and McAdoo has shown an inability to produce anything on offense. How does ownership watch this mess and feel good about the head coach.
I think in his press conference when he was interviewed after being hired his suit was too big for him because he had lost weight and it was quite the scene and people kidded him about it. Maybe it was an omen that not only the suit was too big but a sign that the job was too big for him also.
But let's say we get to the bye at 2-5 or 1-6 and it all falls on the feet of the O and OL. Obviously the season is over. Who takes the fall? Especially when some were talking Super Bowl in the summer?
adrian peterson was not their best player last year, try stefon diggs
Head coaches are tied to their QB. He didn't pick Eli.
I think Eli has some productive years left, but just not on this team. He needs a credible running threat and a middle of the road pass protect. Put him on the Texans or Broncos and it's safe to say they're a nice superbowl pick.
The Giants are trying to run the Packers offense. Let's say you had Aaron Rodgers starting against the Cowboys on Sunday. I think it's safe to assume if the Cowboys played him like they did Eli he would've ripped off a couple 8-12 yard scrambles against a 4 man rush and the secondary keeping everything in front of him. They'd be forced to adjust their defense, opening up the deep passing lanes.
Defenses give zero respect to Eli making plays with his legs. It's magnified by poor oline pass blocking.
you are a damn moron, in what world was ap their best player last year? or would of beeb this year?
No, you call them that for suggesting the Giants will can the guy just after an 11-5 season.
Mac's not going anywhere after this season, neither is Reese. Will Mara step in and shake things up? I don't doubt it, if the results are bad enough, but they value continuity (as well they should) too much to be that knee jerk.
I'm going garden variety idiot. He's been here way too long without being banned to be a troll.
There are a lot of big blue fans who hate this WCO bullshit offense that can't get anything done. And I'm one of them. It doesn't play Eli's strengths and Carl Banks said as much it was hard to figure out what the game plan was. That would be someone who knows what thenes talking about,
11-5 is 11-5, regardless of which unit is most responsible. Sure the defense carried the load last year, but that is also where management allocated most of its cap resources. Welcome to today's NFL - how many teams are good on both sides of the ball? That said, there are a number of new pieces on offense, and it will need time to gel.
"This team is built to win now" says the OP. His reaction? Maybe fire the coach!
Nothing like bringing in a new coach when a team is poised to win now, right? The number of chuckleheads here after a loss is insufferable.
The Vikings GM blew up the whole O-line after last season's debacle, while our GM says we will be fine we have lots of snaps together
Give me a break with the Ray Handley comparisons. Handley took over a SB champion, and immediately drove it into the ground. McAdoo took over a team that had won 6 games each of the previous 2 seasons, and won 11 games. Maybe he's not the right guy to coach this team, but in no way is Ray Fucking Handley a valid comp.
Ray Handley had a winning record in his first season?
Was there another Ray Handley who coached the Giants?

how many offenses would look awful if you took their best player off the field?
We have enough capable receivers the RB's are average but capable if there is room to run . I said it pre-game this is the perfect moment to see if the offense has improved and the play book opened up . We got our answer and its the same plan as last year for opposing Defenses and the Cowboys added a few wrinkles with zone coverage we not only got outplayed but out coached as well .
The O-line needs to dig deep and there may be a quick hook early on if we see more of the same .
Mac is not going anywhere this season but anything short of the playoffs with this defense will not bode well .
You did - with the implication that somehow Handley's situation - almost 30 years ago with a team that had just won a Super Bowl and a once in a lifetime defensive player - is comparable to McAdoo coming off an 11-5 rookie season.
TC probably would have, but that's not the point. He wasn't the HC. The Giants have historically been cautious to a fault in firing HC's, barring a complete meltdown, they are not likely to send McAdoo packing.
To add to it, the only time the offense looked semi-decent in a while was the 3rd preseason game, which they said that Ben and Sullivan split the play calling. I'm not sure who was calling what, but where there is smoke there is fire.
Ben needs to hand the reigns over for play calling duties and manage the whole team. I have a lot of faith in him as a coach, and I'm sure he would be even more effective if he did that.
Well the Pats won a SB w out Gronk who is as big a mismatch when healthy as OBJ is
McAdoo is a shitty OC and his offense sucks. No questions about it. No tuning game for 4 years. Reese is one of the best GMs. So can't slam him. McAdoo won 11 games w a shitty O. Can't complain.
I get it. Any critique at of if those two and the estrogen levels of some here spike. Big.
Jacksonville lost Allen Robinson and starts Blake Bortles. Still scored some points/moved the ball.
THE JETS HAVE TRADED AWAY EVERY PLAYER THEY COULD FIND. THEN THEY TRADED THEIR BROTHERS TOO. Still scored some points/moved the ball.
Buffalo has Shady McCoy and not much else. Still scored point/moved the ball.
I understand not being all that effective if OBJ goes down. However, there is more than enough talent left in the tank even without him that there is no excuse for not being able to scrape together a few first downs (let alone TDs/FGs).

Best quote ever!
I think he gets a pass due to the Davis trade unraveling.

next man up. Every team loses it's best player at some point.
