How about Nick Mangold

clarkie02360 : 9/12/2017 12:47 pm
I believe he's still out there. I'm sure there's rust but he's better than Jerry on his worst day. See if he'll play guard or move Richburg to guard.
I thought teams had approached him about playing OG
MetsAreBack : 9/12/2017 12:52 pm : link
in the offseason but he had declined. Center or retirement. Maybe he's changed his mind since though.
I would have him in for work out.
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/12/2017 12:52 pm : link
I think they would put him at guard if there was any interest. They aren't going to give up on Richburg.
The biggest problem isn't
HoustonGiant : 9/12/2017 1:01 pm : link
who to get, it's the fact that they don't even try new people. Jones looked better than Jerry in pre-season. Fluker did well for the Chargers at RT. Flowers would likely be a better LT.

Shake things up at the very least.
Sure why not
PatersonPlank : 9/12/2017 1:08 pm : link
If he only wants center, than move Ricjburg back to guard where he did fine. Im open to all options.
Desparation
Marty866b : 9/12/2017 1:12 pm : link
I guess that is the mode we are in now in that we are looking to sign old, veteran, maybe washed up players to come in here and start.
The biggest issue for me with the inept offensive line is we have seen poor play from this same group for years now and we don't even shuffle around or try other players we have to change things for POSSIBLE improvement. Time for Jones,Fluker,or Wheeler to at least get a look or move Pugh and shuffle the line.
Anything is better then what we have
Ronzo17 : 9/12/2017 1:16 pm : link
In Jerry and Hart.
Wait, Ronzo...................
GiantBlue : 9/12/2017 1:35 pm : link
I heard just this week leading up to the game that Hart was the best RT in the game......He isn't? LOL
Michael Oher
Beer Man : 9/12/2017 2:29 pm : link
is still a FA (I think)
Main reason these players have no NFL job
JonC : 9/12/2017 2:31 pm : link
they're toast.

Some of them could have something in the tank, no one would take risks on them until after week 1. That way the contract has no guaranteed money.

I would bring in Oher and Mangold for a work out. Lights fires under some peoples ass, and maybe 1 of the 2 would actually work out. Oher couldn't possible be worse then Hart.
They may be toast
jtfuoco : 9/12/2017 3:01 pm : link
but I rather see the burned up husk of Mangold out there then what we have it cant be that much worse and it at least acknowledges that they are trying to figure out a solution then the insanity of keep trying to accomplish it with the same OL the past 2 seasons
This is the same reasoning the last few years
blueblood : 9/12/2017 3:05 pm : link
that has created the mess we have in the first place. That stuff off someone elses scrap heap will help the crap offensive line we have now.

Newhouse.. Jerry.. Schwartz.. etc etc..
It could be worse
JonC : 9/12/2017 3:16 pm : link
when you're suggesting players who are no longer able to play in the NFL, according to 32 teams.
What happened to Greco,
Simms11 : 9/12/2017 3:19 pm : link
who they had in for a visit a few weeks back? If he's still available I would bring him in.

There is absolutely no harm nor foul in bringing them in for a look now for a try out. No guarantee on salary at all if they actually play. All long odds, but you got to turn over ever rock at this point.
Will be interesting to see if they bring anyone in
jcn56 : 9/12/2017 3:30 pm : link
now that week 1 is in the books and the entire salary wouldn't be guaranteed.
The suggestions are being made
JonC : 9/12/2017 3:30 pm : link
to replace incumbents, let's be clear on intent.

There's no solution sitting home on his couch.

Marty866b : 9/12/2017 4:01 pm : link
Thank you. To think that washed up players sitting on their couch can come in and start on a successful team is ludicrous. I would either shuffle the o-line or give ANY of the second string offensive lineman an opportunity. Yes,I would even put Wheeler in at left tackle. I don't care how much weight or how much boxing Flowers does,he stinks. He is a bust and it is time to move on. Can he play guard?I doubt it but it's worth a look. Because you're big, strong and come from the U doesn't make you a good football player. I could say the same for the right tackle. To play the same five guys who failed so miserably last year is criminal. Hard to fathom what the organization was thinking?
Did the team practice today?
Beer Man : 9/12/2017 4:38 pm : link
If so, has anyone heard who started on the line with the first team O?
At This Point I'd Settle For ...
Trainmaster : 9/12/2017 4:41 pm : link
... his sister Holly Mangold:

OL is terrible.
CV36 : 9/12/2017 5:26 pm : link
The team knows this and I am sure they will look at all options. I hope to see some guys in for a workout. 2-3 options. If they come in and are no better then it is what it is. At least try something. Jerry and Hart are not starters anywhere in this league.
Bring him in to play center. Richburg sucks
Vanzetti : 9/12/2017 6:10 pm : link
For some reason, Giants are just not facing reality and admitting that their high picks on the OL have not worked out.

Don't you think some of these incumbents have been handed jobs because of where they were picked rather than what they have done on the field?

Perhaps
JonC : 9/12/2017 6:48 pm : link
There's no argument from me that NYG needs to seriously self-examine why their OL choices have not produced.

But this point here and now is there's no solution coming from outside the locker room, it's wishful, magical thinking.
unless they're able to pull off a trade
JonC : 9/12/2017 6:49 pm : link
and I don't mean Massie.

I think this is something fans say when they're mad and need the easiest explanation for what makes them mad.

You should show your work on this and explain how anyone who was deserving of a spot didn't get one.
it might be time to bring in the sumo Wrestlers

at least we'll get a push up front

Richburg was terrible at guard.
