NFT: Philly Dinner Recommendations?

pjcas18 : 9/12/2017 4:47 pm
Need a recommendation for dinner tonight for a group of colleagues and I (6 or 7). All types of food are open and all price ranges.

I understand it's restaurant week, so if that helps even better with a prix fixe option, but no necessary.

we're all staying at or near the Ritz Carlton on 10 Ave of the Arts off Market Street, if the place is walking distance even better, if not no big deal.

Thanks in advance

A few options

Tinto, Amada, Continental (better scene than food), mortons is across the street

thank you. I'll look them up.
Few more
Jerz44 : 9/12/2017 5:01 pm : link
Serpico, russet, fork

Went on OpenTable those look open
It's going to be hard...
Chris in Philly : 9/12/2017 5:03 pm : link
to find a space during restaurant week that has a table at last minute for a party that size.

Within walking distance I would say check out Alma du Cuba, Estia, R2L, Melograno. If you go further afield, maybe Serpico or Hawthornes.
Fork, Tinto, and Amada are all...

good too.
Thanks for the replies

most look booked on open table, we'll find something hopefully based on all those options.

Moshulu (the ship on which Vito Corleone came to America). It's alright. Better space than food.

impossible to get in anywhere on restaurant week. I had no idea. all the places recommended pretty much had 9:45 reservations or nothing.

Ate at the worst bar/pub I've ever been to right off Market street, called Misconduct. No hyperbole. One guy we were with who is in Philly once every 6 weeks to teach one of our classes said he takes all the youngesters there because they can drink cheap and stay within our per diem. Most of the people I was with were very senior and one of them was going to pick up the check (or I would) so most of us didn't care about that.

We didn't get there until after 8 anyway, so not many places were going to be available.

Next night we ate at McCormick and Schmicks which is a chain.

We did go to Genos for lunch yesterday which was the highlight of the philly food scene for me this time.

Oh well maybe next time. Thank you all for your recommendations, next time I'll plan ahead and save this thread.

is a fun place for a small group. Brazilian BBQ. It's walking distance from the Ritz. The Ritz bar is a great place for cocktails before/after dinner.
Sorry. Missed the date

you requested.
No apology necessary
pjcas18 : 9/16/2017 9:57 am : link
I'll keep that for next time and we drank at the Ritz bar every night before and after going out. I probably spent $500 on $17 per drink Blantons bourbons. They have a good whiskey selection.

Genos?

Where do the locals go?

I don't know Philly well at all, been there maybe a handful of times, once to the old stadium and a couple times mostly just drinking on South Street.

Hahaha. I saw your name and immediately knew I forgot Phillips. Jims sucks but I'd rather eat 10 Jims over 1 Geno or Pat.

Have you tried Cleavers yet? I've heard good things but haven't had the chance to stop in yet.
