everyone talks about trading for Joe Staley or Joe Thomas or trying to sign Branden Albert but what about trading for Duane Brown.
Upside - plays a strong left tackle, could allow Flowers to move to right tackle or right guard.
Downside - he's currently holding out, has two years left on his contract at 9.4 million this year and $9.75 next year. So he's not cheap. He's also 32, not young but right in line with Staley & Thomas.
Houston has already traded their 1st and 2nd round picks next year so they are in need of draft picks. If the Giants got creative and did a 3/5 or 2/6 Houston may have interest.
thoughts?
I'd rather the Giants build a short-term vet line then draft a bunch of players who'll take a few seasons to break in. Recreate some of the Glen Parker/Lomas Brown magic from back in the day.
Here's your starting OL for Monday night:
Flowers.
Pugh.
Richburg.
Jerry.
Hart.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
Who knows when/if he'd be able to contribute at a level commensurate with trading premium assets.

32-year-old lineman?
According to my crystal ball and who is to say he couldn't what if it brought us two more titles sure that's pushing it
but we are a pretty young team add more linemen next year a powerback and another pass rusher .
Sky's the limit if we can keep our defense somewhat fresh

Despite all the talk of a OL makeover next year, it's probably the starting OL next year when Big Blue opens in Dallas too.

happening. Neither is Thomas or Staley.

Not a chance. One of the two(Pugh is my guess) will be gone. Richberg looks meh as a rookie G. Had a promising 2nd year. Last year injuries may have hurt but be sucked. This year looks like last year was his norm. Hart can be replaced in about 2 seconds.
Next year my guess is Wheeler is in at LT maybe RT. Most likely kick Flowers inside or to RT. Would have happened on any other team but Reese loves to keep high picks forever. Also time Draft or sign a Center.

I am being a little sarcastic with my comments, including opening in Dallas next year. You are probably right though, Pugh will be somewhere else next year, as he is probably the best OL player we have. (hopefully we're wrong)
