Six Man Offensive Line

Dodge : 9/13/2017 1:54 pm
Here's my shitpost of the day:

Why wouldn't we go with six offensive linemen on most plays. Cram them on to the line create a bigger wall? Have a swing guard, like Fluker, move to the left or right side of the center depending on the play and position on the field.

It's been done on occasion but not permanently. I remember it being done mid-season last year by Atlanta I think.

What is keeping us from doing that?
We all know the real answer to our problems...

sumos
rules state...

you can have 7 men on the LOS.

If you want to put another OL there, you are allowed.....but it limits you offensively. All teams do this, that's why you report an OL as offensively eligible to the ref.

That's why you have TE's.
Right.

However TEs (supposedly) aren't as good blockers as a prototypical OL.

Get some bigger sumo wrestlers in there.

Has anyone ever wondered why NHL teams don't put sumos in goal? Just get a guy so big that he literally covers up the entire opening and keep him right in front so there's nowhere for the puck to get through. Instruct him to never leave the crease or inch away from the pipes. Just stay in that same position the entire game.

It's not a terrible idea, but the Giants already have a bit of a logjam with skill position players, especially Ellison/Engram/Shepard in particular. This would mean that only one of the three would be on the field at a time, or you'd go empty backfield.

And if you're using it only to help prop up the running game, it basically telegraphs run.

But the biggest problem is this: the Giants don't even have FIVE good offensive linemen and now you want to put SIX out there? ;)

His immense size generates too much heat and melts the ice.

Two shitty lineman must make one average one no?

All the skill players in the world won't help if they never get open and/or Eli isn't standing long enough to let their routes mature.

Not sumos, just 4 time World's Strongest Man winner Brian Shaw (6' 8" 450 lbs):

I have wondered the same many times..
Are there rules against tables on the field?
Beezer : 9/13/2017 2:41 pm : link
I'll bet if you look, there are no specific rules stating that a table cannot be carried onto the field.

Just have a center, then 2 other O-linemen stand on either side with a big fucking table. Gives you more receivers. SOMEONE will be open, and there's NO way a rush is going to penetrate tables.

DO IT!

The tables would probably be flagged for Off sides or a false start.
Mini stun guns

Easily concealed in gloves and tape. Anybody on the D looks like they're breaking through the line, you just have to reach out and touch them. Wham, they go down like a ton of bricks. They'll never know what hit them.
