Safety Landon Collins

Postgame vs. Detroit, September 18, 2017

Q: How do you feel about the running game this year compared to last year?

A: I would say just trying to improve, trying to improve on it. Like I was saying to one of the guys, it’s one block here, one block there, we just got to head downhill. So, it’s working, it’s going to get started one day.

Q: Is it a compound issue on offense?

A: I can’t tell you. I am not over there. I can tell you when we see it at practice, they’re fine. They’re balling. They’re catching every ball. It’s just not translating to the field yet.

Q: How surprised are you that you are 0-2?

A: Very surprised. I don’t like losing. It’s one of my pet peeves. It happens, it happens in this game. We got to work on it and I don’t know.

Q: Do you think the defensive mistakes when they happen are magnified because of the offensive struggles?

A: No. Not at all. They have a good offense. They made good plays. End of the quarter, we let off the gas when we shouldn’t have to try and get the ball back and make a play on defense to get the ball back. In the beginning of the quarter, when the game started, we were doing our job. They got a couple big plays but other than that, we kept them to only 17. They made a punt return and that kind of made us history.

Q: How do you approach this week? You meet a division opponent on the road and there seems to be significant changes on the offensive side of the ball?

A: To be honest, those guys have to look themselves in the mirror. They know what they have to do. They have to do it now. I mean, the game is here. It’s here. We are playing ball. It’s the NFL. Once the season is here, we can’t take these steps back. This is another conference game. So, it counts as two. So, we need this, especially going 0-2. We need this one.

Q: Where is the urgency level?

A: The urgency is over 200. Over that.
