Despite the lousy start the Giants are in Tampa next Sunday. Many of us in Florida and Georgia have had tickets for some time. We’re still going and will be turning Raymond James into Meadowlands South.
Hope all those that live in Florida made out okay from Irma. Capt. Bill (BigBlueinKeys) was displaced for almost 2 weeks. I’m waiting to hear his status. Diver Down had some damages and he's not going to be able to attend. I’ve been in Jersey, planned before Irma, and will be up here until Monday. I’ll be back home on Wednesday the 27th. I haven’t been home to check yet but I understand from my neighbors I only lost a screen on the pool enclosure. Anyway, I’ll be traveling Monday to Wednesday and won’t be on BBI until I get back. I’ll check using my phone at night but..
Here’s the plan for the weekend;
For anyone in the Tampa area or if you’re getting into town for Saturday (the 30th), We’re planning on meeting at Lee Roy Selmon’s 4302 W Boy Scout Blvd, Tampa, FL 33607 (813) 871-3287, at 6:30. Dinner and few drinks, and we can commensurate about the season so far! Come join us. Let me know so I can update our reservations! www.leeroyselmons.com Click on for directions.
For the tailgate on Sunday. Plan on the whole day. The lot we’re in is HCC (Hillsboro Community College) right across the N. Dale Mabry Highway from the stadium. The lot we were in last year (#14), I was told they were converting it into a practice facility. Lots open 3 and ½ hours before kickoff. Two years ago, although they didn’t let us drive into the lot, we were there earlier, walked in and saved spots for us to park/tailgate in. We’re planning the same this time. So plan to be earlier than the time the lot opens so we can grab our spots and start to set up. Also, the traffic was horrendous last time. Some people that left a bit later never made it to the lot we were in! So plan ahead and try to get there earlier.
What do we need, what should you bring. Whatever you want to cook for yourself. Canopies, chairs, tables, grill, coolers , ICE. Lenny said he was bringing a grill. Capt. Bill was going to but last time I talked to him he wasn’t going to be able to because of Irma. So if someone else can bring one it’ll be appreciated. I have a small one but it won’t be enough. Don’t forget Sun Screen it’s still HOT in Florida.
Food: bring what you need to cook, but bring something to share either an appetizer, a type or dessert, maybe a side. Tony is making his famous wings and I’ll have a chili dip.
Get your beer/wine on Saturday. Hillsboro County does allow liquor sales on Sunday’s until 11:00.
What else? Any questions or suggestions!
Win or lose, it won't be in vain. I wish I didn't have so much damage and could have made it. The tailgate and Saturday night will make it all worthwhile.

I'm going to miss seeing everyone and especially the chili dip. Last time when you made it, it was gone before I could try it. I was probably busy being terrible at the cornhole and drinking.
I'll know more for sure when I get back but should have my tailgate grill at least. Great for burgers and dogs if nothing else. I have to leave the big grill for the girl to cook on while I'm gone, but I might be able to find one I can borrow. I'll have 2 big coolers w ice, a tent and table, cornhole boards, most likely chairs (if my outside storage box made it).
Looking forward to getting the gang back together. Let's get that stadium rocking!! Wear Blue and Go Giants!!
Wearing my BBI cap at Selmons...shouldn't be too hard to find.
You've done a great job with this Freddie....as you always do.
Haven't heard.....Will CTC be there?

Been some time Larry.....likewise as well. Selmon's??
Leesburg to Fort Meyers... gotta pass right by.... no excuses.
Wow you're a Trooper. This tailgate doesn't go without you. See you Saturday!

Bringing Lenny is a task in itself! LOL
Not sure what Lenny's bringing. He said his grill. That's a biggie. How about Music? Canopy, table, chairs. Whatever you need to cook. Oh! Utensils.
1 larger gill, a couple of small ones.
2 or 3 tent/canopies.
If you have one and you can please bring it.
cornhole!
There's always a need for
coolers and ice.
tables chairs.
Music.
Utensils. Plates. cups.
Whatever you're cooking!
Something to share. Like I said Tony's bringing his famous wings, I'm making a chili dip. Appetizers, side, dessert!
Some ideas; cheese and crackers, salsa, chips, potato salad, cole slaw.
This transplanted NYer (from Queens to Marietta, GA ... argggh) is having a father and son weekend. We fly in on Friday. I hope to meet up with everyone at Leroy Selmons, but as far as tailgating ... all of my equipment will be at home. How and where can I partake in the tailgating ???
Welcome! More than welcome to join us both days!

Real easy! Just show up! As mentioned we'll have grills and things bring what you'll need for yourself! Food drinks etc. Be ready to party!
We're in Lot HCC! Will try to park as close to the stadium as we can. Meet us Saturday so you know who to look for. Some of us are old vets at these Florida games others are 'rookies'.
I looked it up and couldn't find a clear answer on trailers but it seems to sound like you can but just have to pay for two spaces. I'll call them tomorrow to clarify.
We will go the store and pick up what is needed and bring it to the tailgate.
Lot 14 is not close to where we'll be. Lot 14 is where we were last year. It's on the other side of the stadium and there's 2 major roads to cross.
PArking Map - ( New Window )
Ok sounds like loading it up in your pickup before we head over will be the way to go based on what I found out re parking w trailer.
Should we revert to Lot 14 then or stick w/ HCC?
Also we plan on having a parking lot party later Sat night after Leroy's, all are welcome. Just playing cornhole and drinking with our buddies and whatever Giants fans show up. The hotel will be full of them for sure.

unfortunately not. Have a few things going on. Have to be in Leesburg on saturday and home on sunday. If I were driving, I would try and make the stop for saturday night. We'll see. Not going to commit.

CTC...you gotta stop at Selmons...come on now

I don't think we can change lots at this late date. There are people that aren't on BBI who are meeting us. I've sent out passes to whoever isn't meeting us at Leroy's.

and lot 14 is a cash lot. I would 1 think our passes would work for lot 14 but we would have to make sure everyone gets the memo. There are 2 other big Giants tailgates in lot 14 that I know of, so it would be cool to combine. I just don't know for sure our parking passes transfer over. What do you think Fred? Either way Kuhn we can load my truck. I'll probably be half full. I'm staying at the Tampa Stadium Hotel that's a mile from either lot.

Worst case I'll just pull up to the HCC lot with trailer in tow and my HCC pass and feign ignorance of lot 14 since they had told us originally it wasn't going to exist anymore by now and this is what they sold us because of that.
