Linebacker B.J. Goodson

September 29, 2017

Q: Was it tough not being out there?

A: It was very, very tough. Very tough.

Q: How do you think you can get the run defense back?

A: I don’t want to go deep on that. I am not about pointing any fingers. It’s just things that we obviously need to get fixed and come together and play as a team and go out and have fun. That’s something that I feel like has been lacking. Just coming together and doing what we are capable of doing.

Q: Playing in a game and then missing a couple, how hard do you think it is going to be to get back in the flow again?

A: I don’t really have many concerns at all. They are watching the amount and counting the reps that I will be taking. So, I am not really concerned. Football is football. It’s all about wanting to for me. That’s what it’s always been about. You can prepare as much as you want before camp, but when you put those pads on, there’s still a [inaudible]. So, there’s no concern and it’s all about want to for me.

Q: What is the biggest challenge in trying to contain a guy like Jameis Winston?

A: He’s a great athlete. He’s a gamer and that’s one thing that I see on him. He’s a gamer. He makes good decisions and sometimes he makes not so good decisions. Just trying to capitalize and do what we can do best.

Q: Was he gone by the time you played them at Clemson?

A: Right.

Q: How badly are you itching to getting back out there?

A: Very eager to be back out there with my guys. Like I was just explaining, you sweat and bleed with these guys all camp and all OTA’s and before that. So, you want to be out there, you want to bleed, but just getting the opportunity to get back out there is you know.

Q: So, what exactly was the injury? Was it something that happened at practice?

A: I don’t want to get into what the specific injury was, but I know it was something we had to monitor and focus on day-to-day and get back healthy.

Q: How hard were the last two weeks?

A: It was very tough. Not as far as the injury goes, but as far as watching the guys out there. Like in the beginning of every series, I would get a gut feeling like, “damn I wish I could be out there.” Some things aren’t in your control so you control what you can control. Just working every day to get back and get back healthy.

Q: Is there anything you were able to learn by taking a step back and watching from a far?

A: No, I want to be out there. I want to be out there, man. I want to be out there with my guys and leading the troops.
I hope this kid's legs hold up
