How many victim points does she lose here? It's hard to keep score.
She's really not... she wrote articles expressing support for players kneeling, which I doubt a racist would do and certainly is more meaningful than "hey guys, get a load of my dad" tweets.
DeMarcus Ware, a stand up gentlemen and hall of fame player who was literally fighting off Kalil to dive onto the ball, get a hand on it and keep it alive for Denver.

You can be in favor of 1st amendment rights and still be a racist.
The difference to me is that Cam is coming from a place of immaturity. Like others have said, it's like he thought he was being cute by pointing out how a girl could like football. I don't think it was out of viciousness or cruelty that he said what he did. But, it does reveal sexism of a kind that is almost elementary to get oneself grow beyond.
Her tweets on the other hand are a little more complicated because they deal less with stereotypes and more with language. I agree with santacruz that she was being somewhat sarcastic referring to her dad's racism. In some ways, it sounds like she's pointing out her dad's racism in order to separate her father - a person she seemingly loves - from his language and sense of humor - which she abhors (thus calling it racist), so that she can condemn the racism without having to confront her father directly. Instead, she posts on social media. Not a bright idea, but understandable.
On the other hand, using the n-word is virtually indefensible. She really needs to apologize for that. She used it in a joking way rather than a demeaning one, which makes the mistake of a certain kind rather than another - worse - one, but she should know better than that.

Yeah, it's definitely a questionable tweet. The thing is though, it's so starkly different from the other random tweets of hers that it looks like she's quoting someone else, especially since it follows an account name and a :. I mean, it doesn't even make any sense. What the hell does THATS 10 TIMES TRILLER mean?
Why? So one's racist past can't catch up to them? So that Cam can be slammed for his sexist remarks... but she can't because no one would know about her racist tweets?
My post was in general.
But since you asked, it's actually the opposite, a. so people didn't have the ability to say all that stupid sh-t to the masses, and b. so the social media PC mobs couldn't rabble rouse major companies to take away endorsements or get people fired over fairly minor sh-t.
Regarding a, as has been said many times lately, I'd rather people get their stupidity out in the open for everyone to see so that I can KNOW whether your a racist POS (like her and her family) rather than not know.
Regarding b, do you feel like Dannon unfairly removed their endorsement from CAM? You didn't seem to have a problem with that (or if you did I missed it and apologize in advance) then. Not to mention, racist tweets are anything but minor shit if you ask me.
It is an overreaction by Dannon but maybe they were just looking for an excuse to go with someone else. He should have been more careful with what he said but he gave her a real answer. He didn't answer her question in a condescending manner!
Are trying to protect/maximize.He's a paid spokesperson, and this is negative attention. I don't blame them at all. I don't fault companies at all for being quick to sever these relationships.
If Dannon was found to be treating female employees unfairly and Cam decided that he no longer wanted to be associated with them, we'd be applauded for that decision.
Thats a knee-jerk reaction IMO. The US is PC crazy.
I called it this morning at around 9am. Also, this is not knee jerk. He has not been the best ambassador and he is not bringing much to the table from a brand perspective and if anything having the brand hitched to him now could do more damage than good. Think how many new consumers they may get because of the swift action and position they took on this. It is actually a marketing win
he clearly meant to belittle a woman asking him an honest question, one that he would have answered normally if a man asked it. He's a moron, it's on him not the media.

well, I understand all day media channels need something to fill space, at least this is real news and you don't need any journalism skill to report on it.
and when times change and the joke is dated then it stops. I don't get the indignation as if someone killed their child. Everyone is trying to be perfect.
Can someone point me to all of these beautiful women
Who can break down a route tree? I'd marry them in a heartbeat. Seems like the "fans" you find at games just wanna look cute and don't know whose jersey they're wearing...
I've noticed the trend where a lot of women young girls tend to wear away jerseys at games because I guess they like getting yelled at and degraded by men. Sexist comments mostly, I guess it turns them on for whatever weird reason they seek out any attention.
RE: Men make fun of women and women make fun of men
and when times change and the joke is dated then it stops. I don't get the indignation as if someone killed their child. Everyone is trying to be perfect.
Yep. Like men don't get ripped on out in the open by women ever lol
ask why are they all over Cam Newton's one-off bullshit faux pax, yet nary a whisper on Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood scumbag who actually sexually harrassed women.

he was suprised how well a woman knew about computers, I would not care. If she told me that the owner of the company, asked her to come massage his naked body, that would anger me. You twits should worry about real issues not stuff that has ZERO impact.

WHy does it have to be one or the other, you twit? Why can Weinstein be a creul horrible man and Newton a moron?
Some of you people are ridiculous.
RE: So now Cam is being punished for one off the cuff comment
he was suprised how well a woman knew about computers, I would not care.
Well, as usual, it depends.
I attend meetings with our engineers and developers all the time, and sometimes I utter a technical term that registers a bit of surprise on their face. Usually, there are several layers of subtle humor involved, some of it even self-deprecating on their part: "Wow, someone else actually knows about our nerdy shit!" Everyone departs from the meeting just fine.
What has never happened to me is an engineer acting exactly like Cam, smirking as I'm still talking after uttering a technical phrase, and then laughing: "That's funny. A documentation writer talking about OAuth tokens. That's just funny." In that case? Again, I'd want to punch that fucker.
to locker room talk seem misguided since probably more than half of the country disapproved of that behavior.
I'm fairly certain the number of people in the USA offended by the "bus talk" vastly outnumber those upset at Cam's.
By probably at least a magnitude of 20.
LOL! Yeah... ok.
I won't go any further since I don't want either one of us to get banned. I'll just leave you with the last word on it.
Are you rally implying that more people are offended by Cam's comments than those offended by a truly racist comment? Not crap that she tweeted. That's stupid crap that hinted at racism.
I suggest you move to a more enlightened part of the Country if that's the case. Come to North Jersey where culture, tolerance and open mindedness thrive.
Black people have had a huge huge positive impact on pop culture. They have left a mark all over music and Hollywood. Some of the funniest, innovative and inspiring stand up comedians are or were black.
And they ALL USE THE N WORD! All the time! And not only do they use the N word, they use in ways that lessen its derogatory nature. Black people with influence have gone out of their way to vault the N word. They use it as a term of endearment. They use it as a term of brotherhood. They use it comically. They use it often. They use it publicly.
I just don't get it. The word gets thrown around so often these days in so many innocuous ways, yet it still angers, and surprises black people when a white person uses Ni**A --which in and of itself is NOT Ni**ER--and still everyone gets up n arms about it.
Here's an idea.... stop saying it. Everyone. Just stop. MAybe then the white chick trying to sound cool won't say it anymore.
the word is awful. It's very existence conjures up the very worst moments in mankind's history. It's ignorant. It's hurtful. It's evil. But the word has been softened over the last 20 years or so. White people want to say ni**a because it's "kind of" cool --it's hip. I know it's a slippery slope but I think there can be some room for interpretation--or maybe not.
It's just another one of life's many double standards. I just can't label someone racist because they tweeted ni**a. I'd say they are pretty stupid at the very least.
Are you rally implying that more people are offended by Cam's comments than those offended by a truly racist comment? Not crap that she tweeted. That's stupid crap that hinted at racism.
I wouldn't even say that. What she tweeted was stuff that referenced the word racism.
can we stop giving people so much credit for heart felt apologies while we're at it???
Not to shit all over you, Santa, but we have morphed into a society that places wayyyyyyy too much credence on saying the right things at the right times. It doesn't take much to fake nice. IT doesn't take much other than an ability to lie. Cam is or isn't a dooshbag--who really knows. His body language doesn't endear himself to many, but that apology video should be stricken from the record when we write the book on this guy's character many years from now. Follow the fucking money. Wow he said sorry...big deal. I've said sorry before too...and I didn't mean a lick of it.
Cam will hopefully be judged on his actions. Not some horse crap video that he only made when the backlash hit him right in the face.

Geez... try to leave shit alone...
Look, all I know is Cam has lost endorsements and been called every name in the book... despite the good things for charities he's done in the past. I'm not the biggest CAm fan in the world, but I also know realize that sometimes even good people says dumb things. Which is what he did. Meanwhile, the reporter has been found to have tweeted racist comments and all I've been seeing are excuses as to why what she did isn't all that bad. I don't have to move anywhere to see the double-standard. What Cam said was stupid... what she tweeted was stupid... but only a few want to see it that way. If you ask me, her tweets were much worse than what he said, but by the insults hurled his way by so many, it appears my thoughts are in the minority. Meanwhile the very same people who are condemning Cam for his words are some of the same people who still voted for a guy who had the 'bus talk'. Go figure.
As for your rant about the 'n word'... it's just amazing to me why it pisses some off that there's just ONE word that black people do not want be called by anyone of ANY race and yet it appears that it's that one word that everyone feels like they either should be ok to say or that no one should say it. How about this... it's not up to YOU to decide what's ok for me to be called. Period. In some cases, some black people seem to have no problem with someone they know and trust using that word with regards to them... but if they say it to another black person... prepared to face whatever consequences may arise from that decision. There are plenty of black people who won't tolerate being called that word no matter how or who (even other black people) calls them it. So it's not just universally accepted that it's ok to use by all black people despite what you may think.
You can say you 'get it' all you want... but it doesn't appear to be the case. I hear women all the time refer to themselves and other women as 'bitches'... and yet if someone else where to call them a bitch, they're ready to throw hands. Not the exact same thing I know but, IMO, it's close. IMO, black people have started using it as a way of taking 'ownership' of the word. WE have decided that if another black person uses it... as long as it's a term of endearment (or just not as an insult)... it's fine. Like Chris Rock once said, "I love black people, but I hate niggas!".
Fact is you don't 'get it' because you 'won't get it' as to why I have more of a problem with her tweets than what Newton said.
if you don't mind, I'd like to go ahead and leave this topic alone as they've both apologized and as far as I'm concerned I've moved on. Maybe you can too?
This site is jumping the shark with its constant pissing matches
What do we specialize in rudeness here? Go judge your mother or father the same way. The cyber bulling and hypocrisy is nauseating .
We can't discuss politics because of the ugliness that it brings. Now we can barely talk sports
Meanwhile, the reporter has been found to have tweeted racist comments and all I've been seeing are excuses as to why what she did isn't all that bad.
Not from me... I've been denying that her comments aren't actually racist at all. Shit, she didn't even talk about a race in any of them. She just typed the word "racist" and forwarded a tweet from a parody account.
Again, if that's the standard for what exposes a racist these days, I'm fucked for having spammed all my friends with Onion shit like this.
She's really not... she wrote articles expressing support for players kneeling, which I doubt a racist would do and certainly is more meaningful than "hey guys, get a load of my dad" tweets.

Before getting labeled on one side or the other, both parties are pretty dumb for their comments/tweets.
Lastly, found out this morning there is a definition of "routes" on Urban Dictionary that I never knew of.
The difference to me is that Cam is coming from a place of immaturity. Like others have said, it's like he thought he was being cute by pointing out how a girl could like football.
